On March 27-28, Nizhnevartovsk’s indoor ice hockey court at 12B ul. 60 Let Oktyabrya will be hosting a winter sports festival known as the Winter Fest. Admission to the event is free. At the festival’s master classes, attendees will be learning from the champions their own unique figure skating and ice hockey techniques. On March 27, children will be learning tips and tricks of figure skating from Maxim Marinin, an Olympic champion in pair skating. He is a two-time World Champion, five-time European Champion and three-time Champion of Russia. Tatyana Totmyanina has been Maxim Marinin's permanent skating partner. After his retirement from competitive ice skating, Maxim has made multiple appearances as a guest of various TV shows on Russian television. The athlete took part in such popular projects as "Stars on Ice", "Ice Age", and "Ice and Fire". 2017 saw the opening performance of Ilya Averbukh's ice show "Romeo and Juliette" take place. In it, Maxim Marinin performed the role of Romeo with Tatyana Totmyanina being cast as Juliette.

I am very content that we are all getting back to doing sports and active living. It gives me tremendous pleasure to be able to work with children and motivate them to be winners, said Maxim Marinin. I am happy to take part in the Winter Fest, and I am grateful to SIBUR for the support it has been providing to such an important part of life in the regions and in cities. My athlete colleagues have previously participated in this event on many an occasion. This year, I, too, was fortunate to take part in it. Hope to see you at the rink soon!

On March 28, Ildar Mukhometov, an Honored Master of Sports, International Class, will be demonstrating his ice hockey skills to the festival’s participants. The list of his competitive titles includes the following: Winner of the 1992 World Junior Championship, silver medalist of the 1990 European Junior Championship, Winner of the 1993, 1995 and 1996 International Ice Hockey League Cups. After completing their master classes, attendees will receive their personalized certificates and photos taken together with the star athletes. Apart from offering a packed schedule, the Winter Fest will also give its participants a lot of fun memories.

This is the second time the festival is being held in Nizhnevartovsk. On the previous occasion, the list of its guest stars included figure skater Alexei Tikhonov, a Champion of the World and of Russia, and a two-time European Champion (1999, 2000), and ice hockey player Maxim Mikhailovsky, an Honored Master of Sports, a 1993 World Champion, a silver (1990, 1992, 1998) and a bronze (2003) medalist of championships of USSR, CIS and Russia.

The Winter Fest is being held as part of the Formula for Good Deeds, SIBUR's social investment program. Its motto is "More Movement = More Victories". The festival’s key objective is to promote fitness and healthy living as a popular trend among Russia’s youths while devoting special attention to supporting and developing regional coaching talents and to promoting sports.

We would like to believe that, thanks to the Winter Fest organized by SIBUR, Nizhnevartovsk will be known not only as the capital of Samotlor, but also as the capital of winter game sports. Its master classes conducted by celebrity athletes will be motivating local residents to lead a more active life while the younger athletes will be encouraged to strive for even greater achievements. Skating requires agility and focus, helps to improve coordination, speed of reaction and a sense of equilibrium. There is a reason why they say that cold temperatures help to extend life expectancy, and that ice tempers not only one’s character, but also the entire body, said Vyacheslav Zolov, Chairman of the Trade Union organization at JSC SiburTyumenGaz.

The Winter Fest has been held since 2015 in the cities of Tobolsk, Dzerzhinsk, Nizhnevartovsk, Tomsk, Perm, Noyabrsk, Kstovo, Blagoveshchensk, and others. Over this time, more than 12,000 children have taken part in the master classes with star athletes, legends of sports, and Olympic champions.

The festival has been attended by the likes of Ilya Averbukh, Fedor Kanareykin, Sergey Gimaev, Maria Butyrskaya, Dmitry Ryabykin, Andrey Nikolishin, Sergey Shepelev, Elena Berezhnaya, and others. In 2016, the festival was held in Dzerzhinsk with Ilya Averbukh and Dmitry Ryabykin in attendance. The 2019 Winter Fest hosted by Kstovo featured Elena Berezhnaya and Sergey Shepelev.
