In 2023, SIBUR will support 138 projects as a result of its Formula for Good Deeds grant contest

27 december 2022

SIBUR has taken stock of the results of its 8th grant contest held within the framework of the company’s Formula for Good Deeds social investment program. The company will be supporting 138 socially significant projects in 16 different cities in Russia. Since 2022, the geography of the grant contest has expanded to include Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Projects in such areas as sports and culture continue to be the most sought-after and relevant as they each account for 22% of all winning projects. 21% of the projects will be seeking to create an inclusive environment out in the regions and to stimulate greater participation of people with disabilities in their own cities’ urban life. The focus areas of the remaining projects including "Environmental Protection" (12% of all winners), "Urban Development" (9%), "Education and Science" (9%) and "Volunteering" (5%).

This year's contest participants had to meet particularly stringent requirements. In addition to strictly following the contest’s rules and having to comply with the requirement that their project be of high social significance and relevance to their cities’ residents, they had to take into account the principles of eco-friendliness and inclusiveness developed within the company and recommended for use by all its grantees and partners. Such an approach made it possible to improve the quality and effectiveness of the contest’s entries, as well as increase their potential contribution to improving people's standards of living.

We strive to ensure that our grant contest would allow all contestants not only to raise funds for implementing their ideas, but also to develop important skills, competencies, and project mentality. By introducing the principles of eco-friendliness and inclusivity into day-to-day activities of non-profit organizations and state-funded institutions we are making a serious step towards making these best practices a common standard in all cities and regions where we conduct our operations, Elena Snezhko, manager, Head of SIBUR's Formula for Good Deeds social investment program, commented.

A total of 590 applications have been submitted to the contest. The winners were picked by a contest committee made up of the company’s representatives and outside experts from Moscow and other regions. Tobolsk put the projects of citywide significance to the vote of its residents. In Nizhnekamsk, one of the projects was chosen by the members of the Public Council of SIBUR's Nizhnekamskneftekhim facility.
