SIBUR International Held a Spring Auction in Vienna

4 may 2021

SIBUR International continues to actively pursue its projects in the fields of charity and sustainable development. To use one example, Vienna’s office's IT equipment that no longer had been in use was not disposed of as waste but instead the 122 computers and monitors were given a second lease of life.

The first stage of the campaign involved holding a charitable spring auction, at which employees of SIBUR International’s Vienna office were offered an opportunity to buy some of the equipment for their personal use. All proceeds from the sale of the IT hardware (14 laptops and monitors) were donated to SIBUR's Moscow-based Formula for Good Deeds Foundation.

As part of the campaign’s second stage, SIBUR International cooperated with the Springboard Charitable Foundation in Vienna (https://springboard.wien/). Using Springboard’s help, 95 desktop computers and monitors were donated to two charitable organizations: to VOLKSHILFE, for their Mobiles Wohnen project, and to SOCIUS.

MOBILES WOHNEN

The main objective of Volkshilfe’s Mobiles Wohnen project is to help people experiencing difficulties in their lives. The organization provides them with housing, furniture, and the necessary equipment (including IT hardware) to help them adjust as quickly as possible and get back to a more fulfilling life.

SOCIUS

The other foundation that SIBUR International and Springboard cooperated with this time around was an organization called SOCIUS. The goals of this organization are two-fold: social assistance and environmental protection. By reusing second-hand IT equipment, the foundation's staff help people in difficult situations while helping reduce CO2 emissions. In 2021, recycling of 22,754 kg of electronic equipment allowed to cut CO2 emissions by more than 89,828 kg. SIBUR International was happy to support this project by donating desktop computers, laptops and monitors (a total of 95 pieces), which in the future will help those in need, presenting them with new opportunities for learning and working.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to SIBUR International’s volunteers and to the Springboard Foundation for their role in implementing this project, and we hope to be able to perform more of such good deeds by working together going forward!
