15 ZapSibNeftekhim’s volunteers joined the National Bone Marrow Donor Register

ZapSibNeftekhim hosted a lecture on bone marrow donation. More than 20 employees attended the lecture, 15 of whom ended up joining the Vasya Perevoshchikov National Bone Marrow Donor Register. ZapSibNeftekhim has become SIBUR’s third facility to host this lecture. Prior to that, it was delivered to the employees of the Corporate Centre and of Voronezhsintezkauchuk.

Evgeniya Lobacheva, Head of the Recruiting Department of the Vasya Perevoshchikov National Register of Bone Marrow Donors, dispelled all the myths about bone marrow donation. For example, the audience learned that there are more than 70 types of diseases that require bone marrow transplantation. Or that the process of harvesting stem cell lasts under 40 minutes, and the recovery period is very quick and painless.

The main outcome of such sessions is the opportunity to supplement one's system of values with new elements: getting one’s head around one's own untapped capabilities that can benefit other people, Elena Belskaya, Head of Government Relations and Social and Economic Projects at ZapSibNeftekhim LLC, noted.

I hadn't participated in such donor events before. This time, I chose to become involved, because I decided for myself that I have got to help people. The sessions featured easy-to-understand and very interesting materials. After the lecture, I took a test to join the register of bone marrow donors, because I understand that the chances of living a full life are very low for blood cancer patients, and someone has got to help them, Dmitry Grishkov, Health Care Manager, Meditsina Customer Service, commented.

At the lecture, I registered for myself that the bone marrow donor database needs more people. The more donors there are, the greater is the chance that this can help those who need a bone marrow transplant to stay alive. I joined the register because this is an opportunity to save someone else’s life!
