The Recycling Workshop is a multifaceted environmental project that aims to develop a system of separate collection and recycling of plastic waste. The project has been implemented with the support from SIBUR since 2020.

The Project’s content

Under this project, multiple mini-workshops are being established in the regions of SIBUR’s presence to teach local residents how to recycle plastic waste and where they can learn how to make various household items from recycled materials, such as toys, kitchenware, or notepads. The very first workshop of this kind was opened in Tobolsk in December 2020, with three more workshops expected to spring up in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhnevartovsk and Perm later in 2021. These cities will also organize separate collection of plastic waste (including bottles and caps).

As part of the project, the All-Russian Environmental Contest #яделаючистыйгород (#imakemycityclean) was held. The contest invited various environment-themed projects, research studies and creative works of art to be submitted. Children and teenagers aged 7 to 17 took part in the contest. The contest’s results will be announced in March 2021.

The project will culminate with the presentation of park benches built with recycled plastic. After consulting with local residents, these new objects will then be installed at the cities’ centrally located public areas.
