A motivational meeting will be held in Voronezh as part of You can do anything!, SIBUR's inclusivity project

29 march 2022

April 16 will see Voronezh host a meeting for inclusive communities as part of the interregional You Can Do Anything! project. The goal of the event is to energize its audience, especially people with disabilities, to become more fully integrated into social life, including through their increased presence on social networks. The meeting was organized with the support of Voronezh’s Regional Chapter of the All-Russian Society of People with Disabilities.-

We pay particular attention to matters of diversity and inclusion, as SIBUR has put in place a special policy governing its attitude toward such matters. This is not the first time we have supported such inclusive projects as part of our Formula for Good Deeds program’s grant contests. As a follow-up to these initiatives, we have launched our You can do anything! project in the regions where SIBUR operates that includes motivational meetings with celebrities living with disabilities. I am confident that for many participants these meetings will be memorable and will become a starting point for their new lives, Elena Snezhko, Chief Expert, Head of Formula for Good Deeds Social Investment Program, noted.

During the meeting’s first part, Alexei Talai, Master of Sports (swimming), multiple world and European record holder, a member of the National Paralympic team of the Republic of Belarus, an entrepreneur and a public figure, will explain what it means to  really live, not just see one’s life pass by. At the age of 16, Alexei was gravely injured as a result of WWII-era land mine’s explosion but his disability failed to prevent him from being successful in life’s many different fields. The meeting will be moderated by Mikhail Chetvertakov, a partner of the You can do anything! project, the head of ParaPlan, an NGO of disabled wheelchair users (Dzerzhinsk, Nizhegorodskaya Oblast).

As someone who was suddenly confronted by the challenge of their own disability, I know firsthand that meetings like this are necessary and important. People start building boundaries and barriers inside their minds. In my busy and interesting life that I lead now I do not feel the wheelchair under me, it has just become a means of transportation for me. I am delighted that SIBUR is promoting inclusivity in the cities of its presence and that we were able to secure Alexey Talai’s agreement to make a speech. Trust me, meetings with people like him cannot fail to impress, Mikhail Chetvertakov commented.

The second part of the meeting will be dedicated to representation of disability on social networks. Alexey Trantsev, director of Samara’s Inclusive Resource Center, and his colleagues will discuss fundamental rules of successful work on social networks by giving concrete examples, and present their new blog, the City of Opportunities, that will be created within the framework of the You can do anything! project.

There have already been plenty of examples on social networks where disability is no longer a disadvantage but rather is something that is conducive to promoting one’s personal brand, creativity, social project, or business. You are different, hence, you are memorable. You are successful, hence, your self-esteem, lust for living and quality of life are growing! On April 16, working together with SIBUR, we will announce the launch of a new inclusive community that we called the City of Opportunities. We want people with disabilities living in Voronezh to become its integral part. Very soon, we will be offering our attendees a unique training course on promoting inclusive communities and blogs on VKontakte in addition to a series of personalized contests with prizes and gifts. Voroznezh will be the first of SIBUR’s 18 cities of presence where this program will be presented. Hope to see you at the meetingAlexey Trantsev commented.

Participation in the event is open to all. The meeting will be especially useful for those who was recently confronted by their own disability, and who want to find
new development opportunities and spice up their lives with more activities. This event will be fully accessible for individuals with limited mobility.

The meeting will take place at the Voronezh Marriott Hotel (at 38Prospekt Revolutsii). It will start at 11 pm with registration of the participants opening at 10:15.
