SIBUR's volunteers shared the warmth of their hearts and led a tour for children in Tobolsk

1 august 2023

Employees of ZapSibNeftekhim and Petrochemical Transportation Company gave a tour of the site's eco-trail to children studying at the Tobolsk Social Rehabilitation Center, as part of a volunteer projecting entitled "Share the Warmth of Your Heart".

The "Image of the Siberian Taiga" excursion route along SIBUR's eco-trails has recently undergone a revamp. The upgraded route was first opened to the wards of the Tobolsk Socio-Rehabilitation Center.

Anastasia Prosyanik, the volunteering project's supervisor and a top expert at Petrochemical Transportation Company:
"Our tour of the eco-trail evolved into a true woodland fairy tale, and not a simple one for that, but an eco-tale, complete with forest-themed puzzles and surprises. The young visitors were taken on a journey where the children had to answer questions and perform various assignments".

All young explorers were issued with a kit of equipment that they actively used throughout their journey on the trail. For example, they used microscopes and magnifying glasses to explore the micro-sized creatures inhabiting the forest and to examine the tracks of animals that roam the taiga around Tobolsk.

Yulia Yarkova, a caregiver at the social rehabilitation center:
"The children and the adults alike were fascinated by the eco-trail tour. It is particularly intriguing that the trail is located in the vicinity of a petrochemical facility, and that there is a forest living next to an industrial site".

Pavel Sitdikov, a student at the social rehabilitation center:
"During the tour I spotted a frog, some birds and a lot of different beetles. I was also given a lot of new information about the plants and animals that live in our forests. Everything in nature is organized so cleverly and in such a harmonious way".

The tour's organizers did their best to make the "Image of the Siberian Taiga" tour as interactive and understandable as possible both for adults and for children.

The eco-trail runs for a full kilometer and includes eight stops, or stations: all the way from "A State inside a Forest" to "Following the Tracks" to "Keepers of the Taiga" and down to "Knowing Your Forest A to Z". The concept behind the upgraded tour was developed by ZapSibNeftekhim in cooperation with representatives of the Tobolsk Comprehensive Research Station, a division of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
