Employees of Tobolsk’s ZapSibNeftekhim and PTC collected more than 300 books for patients at the local hospital

9 august 2023

ZapSibNeftekhim and Tobolsk's office of Petrochemical Transportation Company held a benefit they called Emergency Book Aid. As part of the campaign that lasted 11 days, employees and caring residents of Tobolsk were donating books, magazines, and crossword puzzles on various subjects to the patients of Tobolsk's Regional Hospital No. 3.

On August 4, the collected books, magazines and crossword puzzles were handed over to the patients, both young and grown up.

Dinara Gumerova, resident psychologist with Regional Hospital No. 3:
Almost every hospital unit keeps a miniature library on their premises. They are extensively used by our patients, especially those from out of town, those who are lonely or residents of remote villages who cannot get books, magazines, or crossword puzzles from their relatives. The books are very different so that each book could find its own reader. Sometimes people start reading a book but don't have time to finish it before they get discharged. Naturally, in a case like that we just let them keep the book. We are very grateful to the people who invest their efforts in adding books to our libraries.

Denis Bogdanov, Senior Planning Engineer, ZapSibNeftekhim LLC:
Digital technologies are increasingly replacing our familiar sources of knowledge - books, textbooks, encyclopedias, poetry and other literature, freeing up our bookshelves from paper literature. But to just throw these books away is a sacrilege, in my opinion. That's why I was glad to take part in this campaign and donate my books to those who really need them and who will be happy to pass the time at the hospital by reading books. It is great that this campaign has been initiated, and I encourage all those who are interested to take part in it. Do good!

The benefit is being held for the fourth time and is turning into a good tradition; over the course of the campaign, more than 700 books have been donated to the hospital.
