SIBUR's Green Formula volunteers have helped plant greenery outside several kindergartens in Kazan

Kazan (Republic of Tatarstan), September 19, 2023. SIBUR, as part of its Green Formula reforestation and climate-action program, has carried out a campaign to plant trees and shrubbery outside Kazan kindergartens No. 80 and No. 101 located in the city’s Kirovsky District by engaging local volunteers and employees who care about the environment. In all, the activists ended up planting over 100 saplings of trees and shrubs, including maple, willow, chestnut, as well as ninebark, cotoneaster and spirea.

The campaign was attended by more than 60 volunteers including employees of Kazanorgsintez and SIBUR-RT with members of their families, kindergarten teachers, and parents who came with their preschooler children.

SIBUR attaches high priority to taking care of the cities where it operates by contributing to improving the living standards of their residents. By undertaking this Green Formula volunteering campaign, we have accomplished two things: we have helped build a cozier and more comfortable public space by doing landscaping work and we planted plants that will facilitate sustaining an eco-balance in an urban setting. I would like to thank our employees who volunteered today and who regularly help us in performing good deeds. The thrust of our social investment program is to actively engage with local communities and corporate volunteers, because it is only by working together that we can make a lasting difference. We hope that the newly landscaped spaces will give joy to all preschoolers, their parents and educators for years to come.

Prior to the start of the actual planting, the attending volunteers were given a master class delivered by Anastasia Romanenko, Kazanorgsintez's environmental expert, who discussed the nuances of planting young trees and shrubs during the fall season, while also giving a briefing on how to safely handle gardening tools.

All members of the staff of Kazan's Kindergarten 101 located in the city’s Kirovsky District, our young students, and their parents, would like to express their sincere gratitude to SIBUR for organizing this Green Formula campaign. Our kindergarten was commissioned not too long ago, and the extra greenery would come in very handy. We thank everyone who took part in this wonderful project. This will be a lush country!

My daughter and I took part in a campaign to plant shrubbery outside Kindergarten No. 80 today. I was pleased to note that everyone worked fast and in a cohesive manner. This was the first time my child had taken part in an event like this, and it was a great experience for us all!

SIBUR's Green Formula reforestation and climate-action program focuses on mitigating the company's climate impact. According to SIBUR's Sustainable Development Strategy through 2025, the company intends to plant at least five million trees in the regions where it has a presence. The program includes large-scale campaigns to plant saplings, various other volunteering activities, engaging with local school forestry teams, and tending to the trees that had been planted earlier. All in all, more than 400 tree and shrub saplings have been planted across Kazan since the launch of the Green Formula program in 2022.

Today was the first time that we had taken part in a Green Formula campaign. The whole of our family got involved. We planted saplings of shrubs in the vicinity of kindergarten No. 80 which is where our children go. The organization of the event was top-notch. Thanks to SIBUR for providing the saplings and for helping us with the planting!

It had long been a dream of mine to plant a tree, but, somehow, I had never gotten a chance to do it, and so, when the opportunity presented itself to help a kindergarten, and with the support of my own plan to boot, I gladly took it! The organization was just superb, they provided us with all the needed gear and tools, right down to gardening gloves. My daughter and I enjoyed the whole experience! I did not even notice how the time had flown by. Plus, I didn't even feel tired, despite my being pregnant. Thank you for the opportunity to be involved in such a great cause!

Thanks to our involvement with the Green Formula, we had an opportunity to do something really useful for our community. By relandscaping kindergarten grounds, we are not just beautifying our city, but also offering a gift to these young children who spend most of their time there. I am delighted to have participated in such a campaign for the first time, because this was a truly memorable experience and I heard many words of appreciation from the kindergarten's staff. It shows that each of us can do something really meaningful and useful for our cities and our society as a whole.
