Amur Oblast has hosted two training events held as part of the Family as a Place of Strength project implemented by the Russian Committee of the SOS Children's Villages charity with the support of SIBUR's Formula for Good Deeds social investment program.

Elena Snezhko, Head of SIBUR's Formula for Good Deeds social investment program:
"We have been supporting SOS Children's Villages for several years and we can already see tangible results of our mutual engagement. All educational activities of the Family as a Place of Strength project are inextricably linked to the development of specific practices of working with families in distress, dealing with special needs children, and with other disadvantaged or vulnerable groups. I am confident that the practitioners who have taken part in the training sessions will be applying these newly learned practices in their professional activities!"

Invited instructors held a training session for employees of preschool establishments in Svobodny that was dedicated to creating an inclusive educational environment. The trainees got introduced to the nuances of charitable, medical and social models of interpreting disability, analyzed the concepts of "integration" and "inclusion", reviewed various mechanisms used for taking into account individual needs of a child and ensuring that equal opportunities for multifaceted development of each child during their childhood are provided. The experts also went through specific scenarios taken from the practical experience of preschool experts.

Helping professions’ practitioners met in Blagoveshchensk for a two-day training session devoted to mastering techniques used to help families cope with stress and challenges they face in their lives. The training session’s participants learned to analyze various situations based on each family’s strengths, examined the practice of conducting a motivational interview, analyzed the methodology for activating resources through proper wording of questions, and practiced using the technique for problem visualization.

Olga Lipnitskaya, Head of Social Orphanhood Prevention and Family Strengthening at the Russian Committee of SOS Children's Villages:
"We are happy to be able to continue our engagement with Amur Oblast, a region where the demand for professional growth among social sector practitioners is clearly articulated. This year, we expanded our training program to include a separate analysis of the challenges associated with creating an inclusive environment at preschool institutions as this topic is now in the focus of increased attention from the national education system as a whole. I hope that our new techniques will enable practitioners to not only provide high-quality support to others, but also to preserve their physical and emotional well-being!"
