SIBUR helped build an outdoor sports facility to house volleyball and minifootball games in a housing development area in Tomsk.

An outdoor playground facility for children and adults has been inaugurated in Tomsk's Vysotniy neighborhood.

The new facility has been made possible thanks to SIBUR's social investment program The Formula for Good Deeds, Tomsk's city legislature, and an initiative spearheaded by the neighborhood's own residents.

The neighborhood now boasts a fenced 255-square-meters multipurpose outdoor facility to house minifootball and basketball games that is likely to become popular with local residents, school students from nearby Schools 43 and 29, students at the Tomsk Industrial and Humanitarian Complex, as well as other learning institutions located in the city's Oktyabrsky District.

This initiative had set out to improve the area’s outdoor exercise infrastructure, promote healthy living, and motivate local residents to exercise on a regular basis.

The new playground was officially inaugurated on Thursday, September 7. At the facility’s grand opening, Alexander Yarichin, HR Director of Tomskneftekhim (a subsidiary of SIBUR Holding), presented the residents with a symbolic "key" to the playground, a soccer ball.

Alexander Yarichin:

These kinds of multipurpose neighborhood facilities are very much sought after by Tomsk's residents. We welcome residents' initiatives that are aimed at promoting game sports as this is something that brings people together, accords them an opportunity to be active and engage with each other. SIBUR is open to these ideas! The new venue is sure to become a popular spot among young and strong individuals, those with a strong character who epitomize our common future.

Chingis Akataev, Chairman of Tomsk's City Duma:

Any opening of a sports facility or a children's playground means a lot. Places like these are always popular among local residents of all ages. Moreover, a person's impression of his or her hometown is shaped based on their experiences in their own backyards as these are the places that they visit daily and more than once at that. This is where they make a determination to stay put and not move away.

Olga Rudinskaya, deputy chairperson of the Homeowners Association's Management Board:

We are delighted that this large-scale project has succeeded in helping consolidate our efforts and in attracting the support of our city and from SIBUR. That is precisely how people's needs ought to be addressed!  The playground is already bustling with kids playing basketball and soccer. It's so gratifying to see the fruit of one's labor.
