All-Russian Contest of Environmental Photography is inviting applications

The All-Russian Contest of Environmental Photography has announced it is now accepting contest entry applications. By using their art of photography as a medium, prospective contest participants will be encouraged to draw the public’s attention to the importance of fostering proper environment-friendly culture and sustainable natural resources management. Contest entries will be accepted through September 5, 2021 on the contest’s website at яберегу.рф.

The contest is being held as part of SIBUR's social and environmental project #YaBeregu. The project has been spearheaded by the Success Foundation, the Foundation for Supporting Youth Initiatives acting together with Urban Renovations, an all-Russian non-profit organization.

Prospective applicants will be competing in three areas:

  • Mindful living. Images showcasing eco habits that help people live their day-to-day lives more consciously emphasizing eco-friendly living and practices. The images should accentuate the importance of reducing the burden we place on our environmental through simple yet effective steps.
  • Separating is easy. Photographs that highlight the relevance of separate waste collection and the importance of recycling.
  • New life of old things. Images showing new ways of using old things and the trend of upcycling defined as the transformation of waste into works of art, household items, accessories, or clothing.

 

To participate, one must submit an application online at яберегу.рф. Applications will be accepted through September 5, 2021, until 23:59 (Moscow time). Each participant will be allowed to submit an unlimited number of contest entries.

Submitted entries will be evaluated according to the following criteria: alignment of the entry’s underlying concept and artistic imagery with the contest’s objectives, presence of ideas seeking to promote the principles of conscious consumption, the artwork’s originality and novelty, artistic value. Authors of the best works will be awarded personalized certificates and prizes from the project’s organizers and partners. The Contest’s Panel of Experts includes representatives of the Success Foundation, Urban Renovations, SIBUR, environmental experts, and professional photographers.

The contest consists of three phases: submission of applications, examination of contest entries, followed by open voting. The contest’s final phase will be held in the form of open voting within the official group of the #YaBeregu project on VKontakte at https://vk.com/ya.beregu. The contest’s results will be announced on September 20, 2021. Further information about the schedule of each phase is available in the Regulation posted on the contest’s website.

SIBUR's #YaBeregu project got under way in September 2020. It seeks to create an enabling environment for separate collection and proper disposal of personal protective equipment (PPE) and for promoting environmental awareness within the general public through a set of infrastructure-improvement and educational activities.
