In 2022, SIBUR worked together with GITIS to implement a host of initiatives aimed at strengthening the theater industry in the regions where the company has a presence including professional development courses for culture professionals in Perm, Dzerzhinsk, and Nizhnevartovsk, and graduation performances by GITIS graduates held in Blagoveshchensk (Bashkortostan) and Perm.

Professional development courses for teachers and cultural workers

Th project aims to facilitate professional development, enhance knowledge and practical skills of culture practitioners to shore up the theater and culture industry in the cities where SIBUR conducts its operations. The initiative seeks to foster and strengthen cooperation in theater education and in the theater sector between GITIS and the cities’ institutions of culture. Throughout 2022, Tobolsk, Dzerzhinsk, and Nizhnevartovsk hosted free training programs on the topics of culture management and on methods of teaching choreography disciplines to students of different age groups.

Th project aims to facilitate professional development, enhance knowledge and practical skills of culture practitioners to shore up the theater and culture industry in the cities where SIBUR conducts its operations. The initiative seeks to foster and strengthen cooperation in theater education and in the theater sector between GITIS and the cities’ institutions of culture. The first series of such courses have already been held in Tobolsk and Dzerzhinsk with an additional course for cultural workers on The methodology for teaching choreography classes to students representing various age groups scheduled to take place in Nizhnevartovsk on September 10 through September 13. These activities have been implemented with the participation of the Russian Federation Ministry of Culture.

A touring theater company made up of final-year students and recent alumni of GITIS and a number of other leading Russian theaters will travel to Perm and Bashkortostan’s Blagoveshchensk to stage their first shows that would be based on the works of writers representing both classical and critically acclaimed contemporary Russian literature.

As part of the project, the stage of Perm’s Theater-Theater played host to the opening night of The Square. Dialogues on Art in an Open Space, or A Philosophical Comedy, a play staged by Ekaterina Mokhort, a student of GITIS’s Directing Department, and a free preview of a graduation production of The Star with no Name by GITIS’s Acting Department held in Blagoveshchensk (Bashkortostan).
Thanks to this project, young members of the troupe will be able to gain the much-needed practical professional experience, while at the same time giving theaters in need of promising new talent and high-profile premieres the opportunity to get themselves a show and an entire team of talented young professionals whose experience could help the theater raise the professional level of their local talent and the expand their repertoires .
