ZapSibNeftekhim’s volunteers to hold a series of hip-hop master classes for people with disabilities

4 april 2023

A presentation of a volunteering project by ZapSibNeftekhim’s employees entitled "The World Seen in a Different Light" implemented with the support of SIBUR's social investment program, the Formula for Good Deeds, was given at Tobolsk’s School No. 15.

The project that is the brainchild of ZapSibNeftekhim’s volunteers is expected to be implemented with the help of the members of Tobolsk’s branch of the All-Russian Society of the Disabled. At the project’s inaugural meeting that brought more than 20 children and adults with disabilities, its initiators presented the project’s schedule of events and invited their guest to take part in upcoming master classes in breakdancing, graffiti, beatboxing, and rhyming.

Together with my team, I have been implementing various volunteering projects for the benefit of adults and children with disabilities for several years now. We note that our initiatives have been helping them unlock their creative potential. We have been fascinated by the hip-hop culture in all of its manifestations ever since we were very young and we have got things we can show and share with the others, including our secrets of the trade. This time around, we will go beyond simply organizing exciting leisure activities for people with disabilities by instead helping them open themselves up to the outside world by showcasing their talents, Ildar Isakov, a pump operator at the facility’s effluent treatment plant and the project’s curator, noted.

The project’s classes will be taking place 2 to 3 times a week for the duration of two months. They will be supervised by dance coaches from CapaCity Crew, a local breakdancing studio. People of all age groups are invited to join. By the end of the project, the coaches together with their students will have choreographed a rehearsed beatbox music and dance show using lyrics that will be composed at the class. Every participant of the project will be sent a video of their performance filmed by a professional cameraman.

Creativity plays a significant role in a person’s development, especially in the development of children with disabilities. Thanks to the project "
The World Seen in a Different Light", attending children will be able to project their individuality, to show themselves to the world. I am sure that thanks to our joint efforts we will be able to give the project’s participants a whole new world of great emotions and opportunities, Daria Cherepanova, an expert with ZapSibNeftekhim's Department of Government Relations and Socio-Economic Projects, commented.
