An inclusive workout space for outdoor exercise opens in Voronezh

A new outdoor exercise area was officially inaugurated at the Leonid Kudryavtsev Yuzhny Park.

It's a workout facility that comes complete with gym equipment for athletes of all ages, as well as for people with disabilities. This initiative is a part of SIBUR's Formula for Good Deeds social investment program implemented with the support of EcoCenter, a municipal enterprise, and ESM Group LLC.

This stylish and functional venue for outdoor exercise activities will help the city's residents improve their fitness as well as maintain a healthy lifestyle, regardless of their physical capabilities. The area is subdivided into 4 different zones for different age groups and fitness levels including exercise machines for children, middle-aged and older people as well as two workout areas for skilled athletes and for people in wheelchairs.

The playground is surfaced with rubber tiles made from recycled tires helping give used plastics a second lease on life and contributing to the city's efforts of taking care of its environment

The opening ceremony was attended by officials from the Voronezh City Administration and representatives of SIBUR.

In her speech, Voronezh’s vice mayor Lyudmila Borodina expressed her gratitude to SIBUR for its support of the city’s course aimed at establishing and shaping public spaces in the Black Earth Region's capital.

By joining our efforts with the business community, we are able to accelerate the fulfillment of our goal which is to make Voronezh better, more comfortable and more attractive for both its residents and visitors.”

For his part, Vyacheslav Zolototrubov, General Director of SIBUR's Voronezh facility (JSC Voronezhsintezkauchuk), noted that the Leonid Kudryavtsev Yuzhny Park is an iconic and symbolic place for the company's own employees.

It is gratifying to see that the park is gradually undergoing a transformation for the better, and we are happy that we can contribute to that. As a socially responsible company, we regard the goal of improving living standards for our city's residents as something that is very important to us. SIBUR has been involved in many community improvement projects in the cities where it operates. This is not the first site that we are inaugurating, and it definitely won't be the last. The new improved park area for outdoor exercise will help the residents of our city, regardless of what their capabilities may be, to spend their time in a way that is good for their body and their soul. And I certainly want to thank the Administration of the city of Voronezh for supporting our initiatives and for our fruitful cooperation for the benefit of the city’s residents.”

Following the opening ceremony, the invited athletes conducted a warm-up session and a workout master class for all those who wished to take part.
