Tobolsk became the venue for SIBUR-supported GITIS courses for cultural workers

26 april 2022

On April 19 to 21, the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) offered a professional development course for Tobolsk’s teachers and cultural workers, conducted with the support of SIBUR's social investment program, the Formula for Good Deeds.

The project’s principal objective was to improve the knowledge and skills of culture professionals. GITIS professors taught several professional development classes focusing on management in the culture sector and on choreography teaching techniques providing training to more than 60 professionals in a space of just three days.

Supporting culture in the cities where SIBUR has operations is a separate focus area of its Formula for Good Deeds program implemented as part of the company's Sustainable Development Strategy. We always strive to incorporate educational components into our social investment program’s projects. Providing professional development training to local talents produces a profound positive effect on both the sector of culture and the city as a whole. What we get in the end is a friendly urban environment where there are more opportunities for unlocking our residents’ creative potentialElena Belskaya, Head of ZapSibNeftekhim’s Department of Government Relations and Socio-Economic Projects, noted.

The main goal of events such as these is to share one’s experience and knowledge. When national-caliber experts visit a small town, this creates incredible opportunities for spurring the town’s development and for educating its residents. Every trainee is thus offered a chance to take a fresh look at his or her profession, understand its scale and reach, take home new ideas and concepts, and get the drive to test out their newly gained experiences. Our instructors didn’t just share their theoretical knowledge with us, they gave us a lot of practical recommendations on how to continue developing our skillsAnastasia Romanova, director of the Tobol theme park, commented.

In a relatively short amount of time, our instructors were able to cover all of the most pressing challenges of managing culture, ranging from setting the right goals to secrets of successful sales. Being able to talk directly to our instructors and share each other’s experience in organizing and carrying out information campaigns was of great help. All of the lectures were very much to the point, nothing superfluous there, only what is needed in one’s work, plus relevant questions and competent answers to these questions. As we were working on developing our training projects, we received very useful feedback from the instructors who shared their practical tips for our further work on similar projects in the fields of culture and tourismDenis Zenin, director of the Centre of Arts and Culture, shared.
