On February 26, Nizhnekamsk hosted the 2023 Ski Marathon, the second marathon on the TIMERMAN calendar of athletic events that brought together 290 participants from 9 regions of Russia eager to vie for its top prizes.

The ski race competitors had to cover the distances of 5, 15, and 30 kilometers. In keeping with the event’s tradition, the first to ski were the young athletes taking part in the TIMERKIDS race, with the youngest contestant, Agata Klipacheva, being just 5 years old.

The race in Nizhnekamsk was won by Alexander Zubkov who completed the distance of 30 kilometers in 01:28:41. The second prize went to Sergey Myasnikov, who finished the distance in 01:28:44, with Ilfat Nabiyev coming in third at 01:28:49, just seconds behind him.

Semen Kostin won the men’s 15-kilometer event, finishing the distance in 39:03. Bulat Shaikhutdinov came in second at 39:50. Kamil Valeyev took the third prize with the finishing time of 41:44.

Anna Safina, a native of Nizhnekamsk, claimed victory in the women's 15-kilometer race, finishing it in 49:22, followed by Ekaterina Akhmetkina with the finishing time of 53:46, and Lyudmila Mokhova who took the third place after finishing it in 55:46.

The race was made possible thanks to the support of SIBUR as part of its corporate social investment program, the Formula for Good Deeds. The company acted as the event’s environmental partner and, working together with the race’s organizers, carried out a number of eco-initiatives on the site of the marathon race. For example, runners were offered refreshments in reusable cups at the race’s feeding stations while eco-volunteers spoke to guests about the importance of sorting waste and recycling plastics. Containers for collecting plastic bottles were also installed on the site of the race’s rallying grounds. A total of more than 800 bottles were collected in the course of the marathon to be sent on for recycling and to be given a second lease on life. Recycled PET is commonly used for producing food-grade packaging, clothing, consumer goods, construction materials, and for other purposes. By using recycled plastics, we can conserve the planet's resources and reduce the amount of waste going to landfills.
