SIBUR to honor more than 1,640 mothers raising children with special needs

13 march 2023

To celebrate the International Women's Day holiday, SIBUR, working together with regional non-profits, held a charity event in honor of women raising children with disabilities and severe illnesses, thanks in part to the support of the company’s Formula for Good Deeds social investment program. A total of 1,643 mothers from 27 cities where the company operates, all the way from St. Petersburg to Amur Oblast’s Svobodny, are expected to take part in the event.

This will be the fourth time the company is holding such a charity event. SIBUR’s policy is to re-allocate the funds that previously used to be spent on buying corporate gifts to funding regional socially-oriented non-profit organizations in order to help them organize festive gatherings for women facing difficulties in their lives. This year, the campaign was for the first time joined by regional organizations from the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, including the Yamal’s Roads of Kindness NGO (Gubkinsky), Happy Kids, an association of parents of children with special needs (Muravlenko), and Noyabrsk’s Special Children, a non-profit organization.

- I would like to cordially thank SIBUR for its invaluable contribution and for the inspiration to organize this campaign. It not unusual for mothers who are busy caring for their children to forget about themselves and their own basic needs, not to mention their dreams and desires. This is certainly the case with our organization where we have limited resources, and so the first thing we usually do is direct all our resources towards implementing important socially impactful projects for the benefit of children while often "forgetting" about their moms. Thanks to SIBUR's support, we were able not only to share our warmth and attention with the eight mothers who have to deal with a stressful emotional, physical and financial situation, those who take care of their children with disabilities 24/7, but also to establish a women's club we called 33 Mothers as a result of the joint efforts of our partners and volunteers, provide emotional support to and energize each other which is so necessary for us to be able to live mindfully, Anastasia Gileva, president of the Happiness of Living, Perm’s regional non-profit specializing in protecting the rights of children with disabilities and their families, noted.

The first of these events took place in Perm and Voronezh on February 27 and 28. On March 1 through 8, the campaign’s events were held in Anapa, Blagoveshchensk, Amur Oblast, Blagoveshchensk, Republic of Bashkortostan, Gubkinsky, Kazan, Kursk, Muravlenko, Nizhnevartovsk, Noyabrsk, Nyagan, Pyt-Yakh, St. Petersburg, Svobodny, Tobolsk, Tomsk, and Ufa.

- Events like these are very beneficial for us. We can get our minds off things that worry us, break free from the rut of our daily routines, feel like women again, dedicate this short amount of time to creativity and to socializing with nice people, Oksana Karibaba, a participant of the campaign held in Nizhnekamsk, commented.

By the end of March, celebratory events will have been organized in Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novokuybyshevsk, Omsk, Tver, and Tyumen.

- When we were planning this campaign we had no idea that so many caring people would get involved in it and we are extremely happy with the turnout. This includes our colleagues we work together with for our company, managers and employees of partner foundations, and representatives of our contractors. We have seen an outpour of great feedback not only from the moms that our initiative has been catering for, but also from everyone who was involved in it one way or the other. All these kind words motivate us to keep moving forward while taking pride in the fact that so many good people have joined forces for a good cause, Varvara Melekestseva, manager of the Formula for Good Deeds social investment program, noted.
