BIRDS OF TOBOLSK, a photography exhibition, is inviting local residents to the expo’s opening

29 june 2022

BIRDS OF TOBOLSK, the photo exhibition opening on June 29, will be held concurrently at two of the city’s venues: the Synthez House of Culture and the Moya Territoriya Multicenter. The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Synthez House of Culture at 5 p.m.

The exhibition is being conducted within the framework of the Land of the Lapwing project implemented as part of the Formula for Good Deeds, SIBUR’s social investment program.

The exhibition will feature photographs taken by the photographer Mikhail Podsokhin, Moscow’s birding champion, who will introduce his work at the opening ceremony. He will share some tips on successful photo hunting, discuss his technique and equipment that is necessary for snapping superb shots. The ceremony at the Synthez will also feature a talk by Yulia Gorelova, director of the non-profit partnership Birds and People, who will be presenting awards to the winners of the competitive birding tournament that several school teams took part in earlier in May.

The Land of the Lapwing is continuing to evolve and to expand its horizons by increasingly experimenting with novel formats. This photo exhibition will allow both the residents and guests of the city to learn more about the various species of birds that live on the streets, in parks and forested areas in and around Tobolsk in a relaxed setting. We did our best to pick the best-made shots and most interesting facts to make the exhibition even more alluring, Elena Snezhko, chief expert, head of SIBUR's Formula for Good Deeds social investment program, noted.

The exhibition will feature photographs of such orders of birds as Piciformes, Anseriformes, Charadriiformes, as well as Passeridae including bunting, long-tailed tit, ,azure tit, European goldfinch, fieldfare, house and Eurasian tree sparrows, European robin, and many other species.

The exhibition at the Synthez House of Culture will run for one month whereas the one held at Moya Territoriya will be open through mid-August. Admission is free. The opening ceremony will be held on June 29 at 5 p.m. at the House of Culture, on the 2nd Floor.
