The Fantastic Plastic Exhibition at the Moscow Design Museum won a Prize from the Glamour Eco Awards

30 april 2021

This was the first time the award had been given out. It is presented for one’s contribution to raising awareness of environmental issues and to mindful development. The award was presented by Ilyana Erdneyeva, Glamour Russia’s Editor-in-Chief. This year the award presentation ceremony was held on April 22 at Aptekarsky Ogorod in the format of a discussion with opinion leaders and experts in the fields of sustainable development, recycling, and promotion of eco-friendly lifestyles.

The Moscow Design Museum invites everyone to visit the Fantastic Plastic exhibition hosted by the New Tretyakov Gallery (at Krymsky Val, 10) through May 30.

We have updated our exposition by adding new exhibits and are looking forward to welcoming everyone who is interested in such topics as design, circular economy and environmental protection, Alexandra Sankova, Director of the Moscow Design Museum, said.

Since April 27, the exhibition has been featuring new exhibits by an Italian company Kartell, Russian designers from 99 Recycle, and Green Toys, a US manufacturer.

Kartell, that is an Italian furniture maker, showcases its 2020 product, the Re-Chaire chair, as well as its Componibili storage cabinet and the classic-design Mobil office cabinet. All of these pieces of furniture were created in accordance with the principles of sustainable development, made of recycled thermoplastic technopolymers, a material that is reliable and ecofriendly without compromising its quality and durability.

99 Recycle, a brand from St. Petersburg, has been recycling plastics and other waste materials by converting them into furniture items and accessories such as backpacks, bags, skateboards, and pins and badges. Their exhibits include a multifunctional Eburet stool 3D-printed out of recycled plastic, which can be used as a stool proper, a newsstand, or a coffee table, and a Yura chair.

Children's toys made of recycled plastic by a US-based company Green Toys are well thought out all the way down to their minute details: they help stimulate development of a child’s imagination and motivate children to invent games of their own. Fantastic Plastic features a toy ship by Green Toys that was built with due regard to the principles of sustainable development.

An audio guide and a catalog have been prepared and published specially for this exhibition.
