Yamal’s extreme race Character of Steel brought over 400 competitors

Noyabrsk saw the second extreme Character of Steel race take place on April 2. More than 400 running enthusiasts from across the entire Yamal peninsula took part in the event.

Implemented by SIBUR, Character of Steel is a multi-sport project that combines exciting and active recreation with extreme sports. Its program is designed in such a way as to promote a healthy lifestyle in the cities where the company operates by including both extreme racing competitions and open athletic training sessions.

The race was joined by the residents of Noyabrsk, Salekhard, Novy Urengoy, Surgut, Kogalym, Muravlenko, Gubkinsky, Tarko-Sale and Tazovsky District. Extreme sports athletes tested their steely Northern character and got overcome with a lot of positive emotions having proved once again that sport is the best way to overcome one’s fear, relieve tension and make new friends!
The race’s route is designed to really test your steely character. This is where one can find out for sure whether they have got what it takes or not. You just try to hang in there until the very end! Aliya Mustafina, a participant of the extreme race, noted.

The race was held as part of SIBUR's social investment program, the Formula for Good Deeds, with the support of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, as well as the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Noyabrsk’s City Administration.
SIBUR believes it is important to advance sports in the cities where the company has a presence, as this is clearly a key to better health and greater physical and social activity of their residents. Projects such as Character of Steel are a great self-fulfillment opportunity for those residents of Noyabrsk and nearby towns who cannot imagine their lives without sports, Elena Snezhko, head of the Formula for Good Deeds social investment program, commented.
