SIBUR to support GITIS-led courses for employees of Tobolsk’s institutions of culture

On April 19 to 21, the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) will put on a professional development course for Tobolsk’s teachers and cultural workers, to be conducted with the support of SIBUR's social investment program, the Formula for Good Deeds.

The project seeks to help upgrade the knowledge and practical skills of culture practitioners to help advance the sector’s level of development both in Tobolsk and in the whole of Tyumen Oblast. The initiative’s focus is on expanding and strengthening the cooperation between GITIS and Tobolsk’s institutions of culture to bolster’s the city’s drama education and theatrical communities.

GITIS has been happy to share its extensive experience both nationally and internationally, and it is now delighted to offer its programs to Russia's outlying regions. Tobolsk is a city with great creative and theatrical potential, giving us hope that these training courses will help propel various local projects to a new level of development, Grigory Zaslavsky, Rector of GITIS, noted.

GITIS’s free professional development training programs titled Management in the Field of Culture and Techniques for Teaching Choreography to People of Various Age Groups will be hosted by Tobolsk’s Center of Arts and Culture. The classes will be taught by instructors representing GITIS’ Production department and Department of contemporary choreography and stage dance.

Tobolsk can already be proud of its Free Youth Theater that had grown from humble beginnings of an association of amateur drama enthusiasts into a full-fledged professional theater. The course will be held with the participation of the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Culture.
