Employees of ZapSibNeftekhim spent spring’s first month taking care of the environment. By taking part in the Kind Caps environmental campaign, they managed to collect in excess of 59 kilograms of recyclables.

Under the eco-campaign’s terms, volunteers were expected to deliver used plastic bottle caps and plastic food wrappings to the Sportivny eco-house over the course of the entire month. Contributions of each volunteer were then tallied by the staff of the eco-house adding up to their individualized scores. In the meantime, participants were also educated on how recycled items are given a second lease on life.

Alisa Vagapova, manager of the EcoTobolsk project:
"All plastic caps get recycled and processed to produce pellets that serve as raw materials for manufacturing new goods. The eco-house offers regularly-held master classes on processing plastic caps: by using a heat press one can make a bowl for holding candies or a tablet-sized document holder."

The campaign’s aim is to promote plastic waste recycling and to foster an eco-friendly culture of mindful resource consumption among members of the company's staff.

Each campaign participant received a letter of appreciation and was given the status of an "eco-volunteer". The most active of the participants who had managed to collect more than 3 kilograms’ worth of caps on their own, were rewarded with free admission tickets to attend graduation performances given by fourth-year students of the Acting Department of the Moscow Art Theater’s School and Studio (class of Evgeny Pisarev) that were performed on the stage of Tobolsk’s Ershov Drama Theater.

Svyatoslav Tsvetaev, a power engineer with ZapSibNeftekhim's unit in charge of repairing automated electrical equipment and a participant of the campaign:
"My whole family often takes part in campaigns such as this one. We collect caps together with my child. A heart-shaped box for collecting caps had been set up on the grounds of our kindergarten. We collect plastic waste separately and we used to take it to the eco-house, but right now we turn it in at another collection point located on the grounds of the industrial estate. We do it on a monthly basis, as part of the "dual benefit" campaign. It was a pleasant surprise to get a free ticket to an interesting performance as a reward for my activism."
