The project was launched last summer with a creative master class on decorating bird feeders. The participants of the class not only crafted and decorated 5 bird feeders but also learned how to take care of our feathered companions. As a follow-on to a series of related activities, August saw a sports master class in neuro-gymnastics and laughter yoga put on for the project’s young beneficiaries. These exercises contributed to improving the children's emotional well-being and helped them learn to cope with fear, anxiety, and frustration. Neuro-gymnastics helped to enhance their cognitive functions while laughter yoga provided a means for releasing one’s pent-up emotions.

Another creative master class on decorating bird feeders was held in autumn, where its participants built 5 more bird feeders. November turned out to be even more event-packed. Volunteers helped conduct an eco-lesson “The Second Life of Plastics” to teach children and their parents the basics of eco-friendly living and the importance of recycling. A sporting master class featuring exercises on a balance board encouraged participating children to improve their coordination and balance in a game-like atmosphere.

The project came to an end in December with a creative master class on candle making. In the run-up to the New Year's celebrations, the class homed in on a few fitting candle scents such as “Spruce Cones and Needles” and “The Christmas Punch” to evoke a unique celebratory spirit. The candles made at the class turned out to be a perfect New Year's gift that the attendees were then able to take home.

“We are teaching children with disabilities useful skills and emotions. It is so encouraging that there are people who are willing to support us in this endeavor. Why is it so important? Well, first of all, we are standing up against what is known as toxic charity, where children with disabilities are just getting hooked up on getting entertained and used to other nice rewards. Our goal is to teach these kids something new, encourage them to work, grow and build useful things. When this works out to our satisfaction, this makes us happy!”.
