The Municipal Budgetary Educational Institution "Lyceum No. 31 named after Alexey Alekseevich Shapovalov" has summed up the results of the "Start in Engineering" project, implemented with grant support from SIBUR's "Formula for Good Deeds" social investment programme. The initiative allowed the school to establish a systematic model of early career guidance in primary education and form the first cohort of students ready to continue their studies in an engineering profile.

Throughout the academic year, regular extracurricular classes were held for fourth-grade students, where the theoretical foundations of physics and mechanics were immediately reinforced with practice. Thanks to the equipment purchased with grant funds, including demonstration and distribution kits, as well as an interactive panel with virtual laboratory work, each of the 70 fourth-graders completed 3 practical modules. Over the entire project implementation cycle, 152 primary school students were covered by practice-oriented learning, creating a sustainable environment for developing engineering thinking from an early age.

Based on the results of the extracurricular classes, pedagogical observation, testing and parental surveys, a competitive selection was carried out. Twenty-five students demonstrated a sustained interest in technical disciplines and will form the first intake of the engineering fifth grade in September 2026. The specialisation of the new class is built not by increasing the academic load, but through expanding the practical content of propaedeutic courses in physics, computer science, drafting and chemistry, directly meeting the needs of modern industrial enterprises.
