The first school of the Ural Bank for bone marrow donation ambassadors took place in Tyumen at the West Siberian State Savings Bank venue. The event, organised by Sber together with the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry named after Vasya Perevoshchikov and the National Council for Corporate Volunteering for Sverdlovsk Region, brought together participants from different regions and companies.

In addition to Sber employees and volunteers from partner organisations (Russian Railways, Tyumen State University, Russian Post), a representative of SIBUR took part in the training – <b>Dmitry Sizemsky, Chief Expert at Novye Resursy LLC –</b> who will now be able to share knowledge with colleagues at the company's production sites.

The goal of the school is to train ambassadors capable of talking clearly and reliably about the importance of joining the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry. Participants studied: how to join the registry and what contraindications exist; the stages of the donation procedure and debunking common myths; effective formats for educational work.

SIBUR is a company that, as part of its "Formula for Good Deeds" social investment programme, consistently supports the development of the donor movement and corporate volunteering. The National Bone Marrow Donor Registry named after Vasya Perevoshchikov already includes more than 100 potential donors from among SIBUR employees – from Blagoveshchensk (Republic of Bashkortostan), Voronezh, Ishimbay, Moscow, Perm, Tobolsk and Tomsk.

Sber also provides financial support: funds have been allocated for the genotyping of 1,000 employees. This allows the registry to be replenished with well-informed and motivated donors ready to help patients."</i>

The culmination of the school was a meeting between Tyumen donor Yulia Sokhina and recipient Murad from Irkutsk and his grandmother Elmira. Murad underwent a bone marrow transplant due to a genetic disease that manifested in early childhood. The grandmother thanked Yulia for giving her grandson a healthy life, and the donor herself admitted that she agreed to help without hesitation, and that the procedure took only three hours.

Inspired by the lectures and the personal story, 23 participants of the school immediately took a swab to be included in the database of potential donors.
