March 8, Mothers' Day: taking stock of the results of SIBUR's annual charity project

In the run-up to International Women's Day, SIBUR recruited support of its Formula for Good Deeds social investment program to hold a yet-another annual charitable March 8 event in support of women raising seriously ill children or children with disabilities. This year’s installment of the project was held for the sixth time resulting in benefiting 1,166 mothers from 27 of the cities where the company has a presence.

In all, 24 regional non-profit organizations took part in organizing a series of worry-free celebratory events for the ladies. The program’s geography covered an area stretching across the entire Russia all the way from Tver to Amur Oblast’s Svobodny. The event in Krasnoyarsk featured an alpine skiing class organized for the project’s beneficiaries. Following a short briefing and a warm-up, the moms set off to speed down the piste’s snow-covered slopes. The event in Tomsk made it possible for its participant to see the production of the Notre Dame de Paris ballet at Novosibirsk’s Novat theater.

Alexandra Pokrovskaya, a business and protocol events manager at SIBUR:
"We are delighted to see that our project keeps growing and evolving. According to the mothers’ own testimony, SIBUR's March 8 charity project has long become one of their most eagerly anticipated events of the year. Year after year, this initiative has been giving these women an opportunity to relax, catch their breath, and recharge. By virtue of being involved in organizing such celebrations together with our regional partners from the non-profit sector, we have been able to lavish our attention, care and love on these women on this auspicious day."

In some of the cities, moms enrolled in creative master classes on sewing, on adorning decorative panels, on drawing, on crafting bracelets made with natural stones, and on creating bouquets of soap, sweets and dried fruits. The festive event also featured a number of beauty-enhancing programs: their attendees were provided access to the services of stylists, make-up artists, and nail beauticians. The ladies were offered a chance to spend some time in an informal setting and interact with other moms with similar concerns at the parties' celebratory banquets.

Irina Retivykh, chair of Krasnodar Krai’s Joy of Life regional non-profit organization of parents of disabled children, Anapa:
"We want to thank SIBUR for the happiness and joy of our brave mothers. This is extremely important for us especially on hard days when you are on the verge of crying from exhaustion. But on this day, they feel very happy. Thanks to all these flowers, gifts, banquets, contests, singing, dancing, and positive emotions, they get a boost of energy to last them the whole year ahead."

Galina Tkachenko, chair of the Visit youth leisure center, Svobodny:
"We always approach our preparations for the From Heart to Heart campaign with some trepidation. We felt great responsibility considering that mothers of special children need extra care and attention. But our ladies in Svobodny are very active and they derive a great deal of pleasure from doing their work: they are bright, positive, and creative. We had success! And we are delighted to see that we had been able to put them in a festive mood and offered them the opportunity to spend some time in a creative atmosphere and to demonstrate their talents of which they have plenty! We would like to thank SIBUR for this opportunity to make our women happier!"

Zhanna, a mother of a special child, Voronezh’s Perspektiva charitable regional non-profit organization of parents of disabled children, Voronezh:
"Thank you very much for the March 8 party! The celebration was bright and uplifting. It will stay with me for the longest time! There were so many gifts, nice surprises, an engaging program, it was so off-the-cuff to take part in all that and learn something new! And the beautiful bouquet of flowers and many photos from the event will remain with me as a memento of this amazing holiday!"

Olga, a mother of a special child, Happy Children, a local non-profit organization of parents of children with developmental needs, Muravlenko:
"Many thanks to SIBUR for your great support of our outfit! For several years now, we have been associating the arrival of spring with your organization. Thanks to your efforts, our world is getting kinder and more beautiful. Thank you for your hard work, kindness and your help with arranging these celebrations."

A mother of Yasmina, an attendee of the master class organized by the No Losses charitable foundation for seriously ill children, Ufa:
"At a time when everyone else is gearing up to celebrate the holiday with their coworkers, friends, and relatives, while you are at a hospital with your child, any extra attention from outside is particularly appreciated. I want to thank the organizers for creating such a festive atmosphere, for their gifts and smiles."

Background:

March 8 is an annual charitable project of SIBUR and its Formula for Good Deeds social investment program for mothers whose children are in long-term treatment. Back in 2020 the company decided that instead of buying corporate gifts for its employees it would donate these amounts of money to social-sector non-profits to help them co-organize parties for mothers raising children with disabilities, developmental disabilities or suffering from serious illnesses.

The project's goal is to gift these strong women at least one day in a year that they can devote just to themselves by relaxing, socializing, engaging in creativity, getting inspired, and growing stronger. Since the project’s launch, more than 7,100 women in 30 cities where SIBUR has a presence have taken part in such celebratory parties.
