One of Russia's leading filmmaking companies opened a new-format filmmaking camp in Kstovo with the support of SIBUR

4 august 2021

Kstovo hosted the kick-off of the first season of the Cinema Youth project, an educational camp for teenagers, developed by MEM Cinema Production (the makers of the popular "Kholop" movie) together with SIBUR. On August 1, the film camp’s very first session was launched at the Empire of Dreams film theater, where participants met with their curators and instructors, as well as with SIBUR’s representatives.

In the course of receiving their training at the Cinema Youth, the project’s participants will be given a chance to create their first film from scratch: training, film production, and promotion are all integrated into one single project. The film camp’s organizers will refer the best works filmed by the students to the country’s leading film festivals. The 32 students who had successfully completed their selection round and enrolled in the course have their work cut out for them: they are looking at 2.5 months of studying hard before they can see the premiere of their own films.

As part of their camp session, the students will be taking part in creative collaborations and networking. Theoretical classes will be held online, while their hands-on work will be supervised by their curators. A professional team will arrive in Kstovo to shoot the students’ coursework and help them bring their ideas to fruition.

The grand opening of the training session was attended by Stanislav Kasparov, Director of SIBUR’s Business Support Services in the regions of SIBUR’s presence, Sergey Nazarov, General Director of SIBUR-Kstovo, and co-founders of MEM Cinema Production: David Tsallayev, creative producer at the Comedy Club, and Taimuraz Badziev, the producer of "Kholop" movie, who came to congratulate the attendees with the start of their training session.

The event was hosted by actor and showman Stas Yarushin and actor and KVN performer Denis Dorokhov. They are the ones who will end up starring in the students' graduation pieces in an effort to make sure that the youth cinema could be elevated to a more professional level.

The timeline of the Cinema Youth Project is as follows:
