There are no barriers to success: Noyabrsk hosted a motivational meeting of the inclusive You Can Do Anything! project

On September 29, Noyabrsk’s Yamal Culture and Sports Center became a venue of a motivational meeting organized as part of the inclusive You Can Do Anything! project. The event marked the final phase of the third season of one of the flagship projects of SIBUR's social investment program, the Formula for Good Deeds. The idea behind such motivational meetings is to show residents of cities where SIBUR operates, and especially to people with disabilities, that there are no barriers to leading an active social life, provided that the individual in question has the willpower and desire to aspire to reaching new heights.

Elena Snezhko, Head of the Formula for Good Deeds social investment program:
"Diversity and inclusion are among absolute priorities for SIBUR. This is the reason why, in 2022, we decided to combine all of our inclusivity-related initiatives into one separate track of activities under our Formula for Good Deeds program. During the third season of the You can do anything! project we visited Nizhnekamsk, Svobodny, Pyt-Yakh, and Noyabrsk. As a result, we can say with confidence that the motivation "to live, and not just hang on" is very important for residents of small towns in the regions of our presence, where teenagers and young people with disabilities rarely see successful examples to the contrary. I am sure that the participants of the motivational meeting in Noyabrsk will remember our speakers and their personal stories for a long time!"

One of the event’s speakers Nikolay Lukyanov shared with the participants of the meeting how unhealthy living and bad habits had resulted in his breaking his spine and how his subsequent rebirth led him to becoming the world champion in Paralympic fencing. Alexey Trantsev and Olga Lifanova shared their secrets of operating successfully in the virtual space. They are known to run a popular City of Opportunities blog on the VKontakte social network, launched with the support of the Formula for Good Deeds. In keeping with the established tradition, the motivational meeting was facilitated by Mikhail Chetvertakov, head of ParaPlan, a Non-Profit Organization of Wheelchair Users, Dzerzhinsk.

"I am happy to note that, for the third year in a row, motivational meetings in the cities where SIBUR operates have been really resonating with their audiences. While the attendees tend to look at us askance before the start of our events, it all changes after the meeting is over. People always walk up to us, ask for a permission to have their pictures taken with us and thank us for the boost of energy that we have just provided them with. I keep saying that a wheelchair is not an impediment for me, but rather a means of transport. All obstacles and barriers usually only exist in our heads. Wherever you are, be that a megacity or a small northern town, people with disabilities still have opportunities for self-fulfillment. The main thing is to believe in oneself and understand that you can do anything!"

On the day of the gathering, the Yamal Culture and Sports Center opened its doors to all, including disabled people with limited mobility. In total, more than 40 people attended the motivational meeting.

Vladimir Alekhin, Director of the Vyngapurovsky Gas Processing Plant (a branch of SiburTyumenGaz):
"Noyabrsk has been included in the Formula for Good Deeds program’s geography since 2016. We have already managed to support 38 projects by local non-profit organizations and state-funded institutions with our grants, including various initiatives to create an inclusive environment in Noyabrsk. I have no doubt whatsoever that for those residents of our northern city who came to the Yamal center today this motivational event will be one of the most memorable moments in their lives!"

"It is very delightful to be a participant at such a great motivational event. I am impressed by the speaker's active outlook on living and by the very name of the project - You can do anything! It is so true: all people, regardless of their individual traits and health conditions, can achieve a lot if there is proper motivation and the desire to change their lives."

Ahead of the event, the co-organizer of the You can do anything! project Mikhail Chetvertakov and speaker Nikolay Lukyanov, together with Sergey Bogdanovsky, Chairman of the Management Board of the Taganay Information Support Center, paid a visit to the Cadet Resource Center for Volunteering and Patriotic Education located in the Vyngapurovsky neighborhood.

"We would like to thank the team of the You can do anything! project for visiting us here in Vyngapurovsky. It was very important for our kids to see and hear stories of these people with unique biographies. I am overcome with emotions. Not to mention the opportunity to try oneself in fencing against the world champion. This is especially critical for our teenagers, because it at this age that the fundamental principles of one’s future life are being shaped. Both teenagers and adults who came to our center today were truly impressed with what they witnessed."
