Presentation of the RE-FORMA eco-project will be held in Perm on April 24

21 april 2022

On April 24, a presentation of the RE-FORMA environmental educational project will be held at Perm’s Center of Urban Culture at 15Pushkina Street. This plastic waste collection initiative was launched earlier in March with the support of SIBUR's Formula for Good Deeds social investment program. As part of the project, plastic waste will be collected and recycled to produce some 190 vandal-proof street benches and over 180 garbage cans that will be installed in the city’s parks and squares as Perm prepares to celebrate its tricentennial anniversary.

The presentation will be attended by representatives of the Krai’s administration, as well as by the eco-company Sobirator, the project’s partner. The event’s organizers invited the leaders and activists of various environmental movements in Perm, volunteers, representatives of urban communities, and all those who are interested in separate waste collection, to attend the meeting.

Vitaly Bass, Director General of RE-FORMA, the company that produces eco-friendly street furniture from recycled plastic, will give a presentation on how the plastic waste collected as part of the project will be turned into the principal feedstock material for manufacturing various urban landscaping components. Using an open lecture format, the experts from Sobirator will share their valuable advice and recommendations on how to properly prep the plastic for recycling and will be prepared to answer any questions about the activities of resource supplying companies such as their own.

Vitaly Bass, Director General of RE-FORMA:

At the moment, Perm already has four collection points for gathering Type 2 and Type 4 plastic waste, or in layman’s parlance, those ordinary shopping bags that we usually bring home after going grocery shopping. I am almost certain that very few people have ever wondered how many tons of these bags end up just being dumped at the landfill. Thanks to projects such as RE-FORMA, we now have the opportunity to redirect some of this waste in order to convert it into something useful, thereby reducing our already enormous burden on the environment. The more actively people participate in such initiatives, the better it will be both for us and for the future generations.

Tatiana Duregina, Advisor to General Director of Sibur-Khimprom for Government Relations:

SIBUR has been paying a great deal of attention to developing and supporting projects that seek to foster a waste management culture, including through actions that use such mechanisms as the Formula for Good Deeds social investment program. We believe that this constitutes an important part of effective efforts to advance the development of a circular economy where polymer waste becomes a part of new items. A key goal of this process is to protect our environment. Thanks to projects like RE-FORMA anyone can contribute to protecting the environment by recycling plastic waste.

The presentation will start at 4 pm. Admission is free. All you have to do is pre-register at
