The idea behind the educational 3D-Academy project is to introduce students from Grades 5 to 8 to the polymer processing cycle and the process of involving polymers in making 3D functional models for day-to-day use. The project has been enjoying SIBUR's support since 2022
The program has given school teachers and their students an opportunity to master plastic recycling and 3D printing technologies that could serve as an important and relevant supplement to the core school curriculum and their study of basic school disciplines such as physics, mathematics, geometry, chemistry, and computer science.

3 participating schools had full-fledged lines set up on their premises to convert polymers into filament for 3D printers. 46 school students and 7 school teachers from Perm, Dzerzhinsk and Noyabrsk were taught how to operate the plastic recycling lines installed at their schools and learned 3D design and 3D printing skills. By the end of the year, the students designed and presented to a contest jury their applied-science projects on recycling PET into finished products that got printed on 3D printers. The best projects were rewarded with memorable and useful prizes.

The project in 2024

In 2024, the project will be taking place in Tobolsk, Kazan, and Nizhnekamsk.
