Tobolsk’s residential buildings flaunt new murals

4 october 2022

An inauguration ceremony for a mural unveiled as part of the Art Formula, a large-scale street art project implemented by a team of professional artists RASKRASIMVSYO with the support of SIBUR as part of the latter’s Formula for Good Deeds social investment program, took place in Tobolsk on October 2. Over the five years that the partnership between SIBUR and the RASKRASIMVSYO team has lasted, Tobolsk has become home to nine new street art objects. This year’s work of art that was painted on to a facade of the building located at 22B Neighborhood 7a, Tobolsk, was authored by Anastasia Logunova. Painted in vibrant colors, the image of a girl portrayed against the backdrop of bright scarlet poppies has revitalized the neighborhood and became a new local attraction.

The inauguration and awards ceremony was attended by city administration officials, Anastasia Ionina, Director of the Department of Culture and Tourism, and Elena Belskaya, Head of ZapSibNeftekhim’s Department for Government Relations and Social and Economic Projects.
What is particularly important to us is that this project can be easily embedded in our dialogue with the urban landscape. Over the 5 years of the project’s existence, we have blazed a walking trail that goes along the city's murals: you start your walk in Remezov Street and go all the way to Neighborhood 7a, Yelena Belskaya commented.

The objective of the contest of sketches held as part of the Art Formula project is to transform urban environments with the help of contemporary and street art doing it together with residents and as well as to develop vibrant local communities interested in pursuing creative fulfillment and making improvements to their hometown.

Another eye-catching piece of street art decorates the facade of the building located at 47A Neighborhood 10, created as part of the Tobolsk of the Present project. The project seeks to spruce up the city's urban environment for the enjoyment of its residents and to enhance the city' s appeal as a tourist destination. The project’s logo is a depiction of a Tobolsk-designed tile found on the site of the Dom Namestnika Museum.
