3D Academy is an educational project designed to introduce students who are in grades 5 to 8 to the full cycle of polymer processing, the process of making functional 3D models of everyday-use items, following which they would be able to start developing their own models. SIBUR has been sponsoring this project since 2022.
This educational program has provided school teachers and their students with an opportunity to learn a great deal about plastics recycling and the 3D printing process, something that could become an important and relevant supplement to the core school curriculum and a useful addition to the study of such basic disciplines as physics, mathematics, geometry, chemistry, and computer science.

The three participating schools set up full-fledged recycling lines to convert polymers into the filament used by 3D printers. As a result, 46 school students and 7 teachers from Perm, Dzerzhinsk and Noyabrsk mastered the skill of operating the plastics recycling lines installed as part of the project and learned the basics of 3D design and 3D printing. By the end of the year, the students designed and presented to a contest jury their applied-research projects centering on recycling PET into final products printed with 3D printers. The best of the projects were recognized with memorable and useful awards.
