The Portfolio Review project was implemented in 2017-2018 and 2020-2021 with the support of SIBUR as a special project within the framework of the Moscow International Biennale of Young Art by ROSIZO and the State Center for Contemporary Art and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA).

The Professional Program

2017-2018 years' list of experts included Sergey Khachaturov, an art scholar, Nikolay Palazhchenko, an art manager, curator and founder of the Vinzavod Center for Contemporary Art; Andrey Egorov, an art theorist and head of research at MMOMA; and Anna Zhurba, a MMOMA curator.

2021 saw expert councils being established in three areas including ART, MEDIA ART and CULTURE JOURNALISM.

In the ART field, the experts’ council was composed of the following individuals: Yaroslav Volovod, a curator of the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, Maria Kramar, curator of the V-A-C Foundation, and artist Mikhail Levin, director of the Moscow School of Contemporary Art, curator of the "Contemporary Art" program of further vocational education.

In the MEDIA ART area, the council of experts includes Anna Buali, an art historian and curator of the Department of Cinema and Media Arts at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, and Antonio Geuza, Russia's foremost expert on the art of new technologies and researcher of Russian video art, head of the Curatorial Projects Section of the Regional Development Strategy Department at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, curator, lecturer and trainer.

The list of experts representing the CULTURE JOURNALISM council includes: Maria Kravtsova, an art-critic, curator, editor-in-chief of the artguide.com art portal, senior lecturer of the master's degree program titled "Curatorial Practices in Contemporary Art" implemented jointly by the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art and the Higher School of Economics; Zinaida Pronchenko, a film critic, journalist, editor-in-chief of the "Art of Cinema" e-zine, and Alexandra Rudyk, a critic, art historian, editor-in-chief of the "Art Dialogue" magazine.

An educational program

In 2017-2018 there were free public lectures for participants of the Portfolio Review project and for city residents delivered by such prominent figures in the world of art as Ekaterina Kibovskaya, Alexey Novoselov, Alisa Bagdonayte, Ksenia Podoynitsyna, Zhenya Chaika, Svetlana Baskova, Olga Kroytor, and many others.

The participants of the 2020-2021 Portfolio Review visited various exhibitions in Moscow’s museums, attended lectures given by experts, and participated in discussions. The topics of the lectures included: "Strategies for Success: Pathways to Developing an Artist's Career", "Criticism in the Context of the Art World’s Institutional Design", "Why Can't Modern Art Be Taught?", and others.
