The program of The Leadership Code forum includes a series of events intended to support owners of small enterprises, help them develop competencies needed in their jobs, and learn relevant applied skills. The forum’s principal objective is to foster entrepreneurial activities and initiatives in the regions
The forum is intended for those who have already started their own business or are planning to do so in the future. The forum’s participants discussed how to best use the resources of the business community to foster regional socio-cultural development and to address environmental conservation challenges.
In 2021, SIBUR supported a small business support program implemented in two of Amur Oblast’s cities (Blagoveshchensk and Svobodny) and in two cities in Nizhegorodskaya Oblast (Dzerzhinsk and Kstovo). The program’s Leadership Code fora were conceived of as its key event bringing together in excess of 500 participants.

The Leadership Code’s program included meetings and activities of different formats, including lectures, workshops, and round table discussions featuring seasoned entrepreneurs, business executives, experts and consultants in various fields as their speakers and panelists.
In the course of the Leadership Code fora, entrepreneurs from Nizhegorodskaya and Amur Oblasts, Khabarovsk Krai, Moscow and from other regions, as well as representatives of government agencies and development institutions, discussed the nuances of doing business in Russia’s regions. In addition to the fora’s meetings and activities, their attendees can take advantage of a long-term mentoring program launched as part of the Leadership Code initiative where experienced entrepreneurs provide advice on how to address businesses’ various day-to-day development challenges.
Ivan Noskov, Mayor of Dzerzhinsk:
This is the first event of such a grand scale that has ever been held in our city. An individual who runs his own business has to have the competencies of a lawyer, a file clerk, an accountant, and be well versed in marketing, logistics, and management. That is why it so important for small and medium-sized enterprises to have an opportunity to talk to the experts, get new information or a specific piece of advice, in order to choose an effective model of doing business. Plus, it was important for us to make local businessmen aware of the support measures that are offered by their city, region or by the federal government, and to make them understand that the interests of businesses, society at large and the government are interconnected. One example of this symbiosis is the support that has been provided to social businesses or the subsidies that are available to small and medium businesses at the municipal, regional and national levels.

The 2022 edition of the Leadership Code 2.0 entrepreneurs’ forum was held in Blagoveshchensk and Svobodny, attended by more than 250 representatives of the region's business communities. Leading experts specializing in the fields of marketing communications, personnel management, business law, and psychology of entrepreneurship shared their most effective and useful business development tools and techniques with the forum’s attendees. The list of speakers included Dmitry Dmitriyev, a professor at RANEPA, Moscow State University and Moscow International Higher School of Business MIRBIS; Marcel Ziganshin, the founder of the Bison Pizza chain, an ex-manager of the McDonald’s chain of restaurants, a former top manager of Dodo Pizza and author of "Doing Business the McDonald’s Way”; Alexander Khariton, a professor at Moscow Business School (MBS) and Russian School of Management, and author of Effective Sales; Tehhi Polonskaya, a specialist in personal and commercial branding, the owner of Brusnika marketing agency and a columnist at Delovoy Peterburg.

The event also included discussions and meetings with founders of successful business projects. Towards the end of the forum, there was a session focusing on the implementation of a systematic approach to running a small business, and an on-site presentation and defense of projects coupled with an awards ceremony celebrating the winners of the PROcity contest in Svobodny.

Oksana Razumeyeva, an entrepreneur from Blagoveshchensk:
Our region is far from the country’s heartland and because of the great time difference it is not easy for us to get access to the much-needed training, even if it is offered online. Leadership Code has offered us a unique opportunity to improve our business skills not only when it is convenient for us timewise, but also by attending in-person sessions. We are not just learning from the best business coaches; we can talk to them directly and ask them questions about our specific cases. This experience was extremely valuable to us.
