The extreme Character of Steel race is just over a week away. It is scheduled to take place in Tobolsk on June 11 making it the fifth installment of the event held here. The race’s contestants will be able to compete either as part of a team or individually.

Four unique race courses of varying complexity ranging from 5 to 7 to 9 and to 11 kilometers in length have been laid out for race participants. The 11-kilometer obstacle course with more than 25 obstacle will be a first for Tobolsk.
In addition to the contestants from Tobolsk proper, participation in the race will be open to all those representing a wide range of geographies. The race in Tobolsk will bring together healthy living enthusiasts from all over the Urals Federal District including Yekaterinburg, Surgut, Kurgan, Tyumen, Tarko-Sale, and Nizhnevartovsk. The race will include both team and individual competitions.
Each team must have at least 6 members to be able to compete and there is no upper cap on the number of team members. Just to give an example, there is a team of 21 athletes that has applied to take part in the Character of Steel race in Tobolsk.

Registration for the race will be open on the project’s
website right until the day the race is scheduled to start.
Anyone aged 16 and above can sign up for the race.

Each year, the Character of Steel race electrifies the city. Throughout the race’s history, some 5,000 people have taken part in it. In keeping with the tradition, the extreme race is sponsored by SIBUR as we strive to create appropriate settings for promoting sports and providing diverse leisure opportunities for Tobolsk’s residents. As we keep developing the necessary infrastructure, it helps transform the city and empower local residents to unlock their true potential, Elena Belskaya, Head of ZapSibNeftekhim's Department of Government Relations and Socio-Economic Projects, noted.

The project is being implemented by the Sports Support Foundation with the participation of Tobolsk’s City Administration and SIBUR's Formula for Good Deeds social investment program.
