Qualifying games for the "Basketball School" stage of the "Formula for Good Deeds" social investment programme took place in Noyabrsk at the Fakel Sports Centre. 91 young athletes took part in the training sessions: boys and girls born in 2013-2014. Based on the results of the selection, six of the strongest players will receive the opportunity to travel to the SIBUR Summer Camp in Nizhny Novgorod Region.
</p>
<p>
The selection process took place in two stages. From 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the boys completed their tasks; in the afternoon, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the girls took to the court. The coaching staff – Stepan Akhapkin, Evgeny Gorbunov and Alexey Shlyapnikov – assessed physical fitness levels, technique, decision-making speed and ability to work as a team. A feature of this season was the use of artificial intelligence-based solutions to ensure transparency in the selection process.
</p>
<p>
As part of the selection, a 3x3 basketball tournament was also held, during which the head of the city gave a speech and awarded the winners with commemorative medals.
</p>
<p>
<em>"First and foremost, I want to thank you, dear athletes, for showing your character and demonstrating your best qualities. On the court, one could see your ability to feel the team, to see each other and the opponent, and most importantly, to play truly brightly, passionately and with a desire to win. A special thank you to our coaches and to our star guests for being here with us today. This is truly valuable and important to us,"</em><b> said Alexey Romanov, Head of the City of Noyabrsk.</b>
</p>
<p>
The finalists from Noyabrsk will travel to the SIBUR Summer Camp, where they will take part in a programme featuring training sessions, game sessions and a theoretical component. A separate track with practical sessions and experience exchange is provided for the coaches.
</p>
<p>
<em>"For SIBUR, supporting social initiatives is a conscious part of our responsibility towards the regions where we operate. The 'Formula for Good Deeds' programme has been bringing together people, ideas and resources for 10 years, helping to develop education, culture and, of course, sport. It is especially important that projects such as the 'Basketball School' give children access to quality sports training. In Noyabrsk, we have strong, motivated young people. Each of them has already taken an important step – showing character, discipline and a drive to develop. I am confident that this new experience will become an important part of every participant's sporting journey,"</em> <b>emphasised Roman Kirichuk, Site Supervisor for Maintenance and Repair of Instrumentation and Process Control Systems at the Noyabrsk Linear Production Department of Zapsibtransgaz, and sports leader at the venue.</b>
</p>
<p>
In 2026, the "Basketball School" is taking place in eight cities across Russia. Selections have already been held in Tobolsk, Tomsk, Perm, Nizhnevartovsk and Blagoveshchensk (Republic of Bashkortostan).
