Tobolsk hosted launch of the Green School eco-project

15 february 2023

On February 14, eco-activists from Tobolsk’s Center for Youth Initiatives presented their Green School project. The project is being implemented by Clean Way, Tyumen Oblast’s regional non-profit environmental organization that had won a grant contest carried out within the framework of SIBUR's Formula for Good Deeds social investment program. The project seeks to popularize eco-friendly behavior and turn it into a daily habit by using such means as discussions, eco-lessons and various other types of activities.

As part of our Green School project, we have combined many well-known and lesser-known initiatives including eco-lessons held at 16 secondary schools, campaigns to collect recyclable materials, book swaps and other kinds of eco-swaps, environment-themed flash mobs, quests, and much more. Our goal has never been a one-off engagement, but rather it is an effort to introduce people to an environmentally friendly way of living, Ekaterina Kugayevskaya, the person in charge of the Green School project, explained.

The very first eco lessons will be held next week, while the entire project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the school year. A total of upwards of 5,000 school students from Tobolsk are expected to take part in the project’s activities. Updates about the project’s activities will be posted in the Clean Way Tobolsk group on Vkontakte.

What matters is that the Green School project helps bring together caring and active citizens, businesses, volunteers, representatives of environmental organizations, and city residents. This has been a very successful launch and I wish you the best of success with the project’s implementation, Alexey Vakulik, senior expert with Zapsibneftekhim's Department of Government Relations and Socio-Economic Projects, commented.
