On September 11, Tobolsk will be hosting a unique half-marathon expected to bring together more than 1,000 running aficionados from all over Tyumen Oblast and the Urals Federal District. This event will be a part of the city-wide celebration to honor of the city’s founder Danila Chulkov, implemented within the framework of SIBUR's Formula for Good Deeds social investment program.
The half-marathon contestants will be offered a unique opportunity not only to take part in the classic 5K, 10K and 21.1K races, but also to explore the rich history of Siberia's spiritual capital by visiting the city's notable landmarks. In addition, after the race everyone will be invited to enjoy a bowl of unique Siberian fish soup at the Tsarina Ukha gastro-festival.
Participation in the race will be open to athletes and lovers of active lifestyle of all ages. Younger runners will be able to take part in a separate race organized specially for them.
Sports tourism is a promising sector for our city because we have all it takes to be able to organize all of our competitions and tournaments in unique locations and conduct them in combination with other exciting events, to entice our guests and their families to stay in our city for a few days, so that everyone can find here something to their liking. The Tobolsk Race is an opportunity to make a sporting trip, explore the history of one’s home country, see firsthand some of the main historical sites in Tobolsk, and enjoy its greatness and rich history, Maksim Afanasyev, Tobolsk’s Mayor, noted.
