Last weekend, despite the inclement weather, SIBUR’s volunteers got involved in an activity that is greatly beneficial for the city. On Saturday, they cleaned up one of the banks of the Irtysh near the Tobolsk-Bekerovo ferry crossing, and on Sunday, environmentalists helped clean up the grounds of the park located next to the Tobol arena by removing litter, dry tree branches and grass.

These clean-ups were a part of the Clean Future Is In a Clean Present
volunteering project, which is being implemented in Tobolsk thanks to SIBUR's Formula for Good Deeds social investment program.

The project drew employees of ZapSibNeftekhim, as well as employees of contractor companies involved in the construction of the DHP-2 plant, staff of the Petrochemical Transportation Company and residents of the city of Tobolsk, a total of more than 90 participants. By working together, they managed to clear out more than 600 kilograms of all kinds of waste and garbage.

Kristina Pervushina, a participant of the eco-clean-up:
"Clean-up campaigns like this have become a good tradition. This year, we took part in this campaign together with the members of ZapSibNeftekhim’s women's club, including our colleagues from the Petrochemical Transportation Company, our Plant’s Central Laboratory, the pyrolysis plant, the Central Gas Fractionation Unit, and the OHS Department. It is an environmental event that really unites people: the spirit of mutual assistance and partnership was palpable. Despite the rain, it was a fun and comfortable adventure. We made some excellent photos to remember this day, and my city just got a tad cleaner and cozier!"

Yulia Usoltseva, a participant of the eco-clean-up:
"The truth is, doing good is actually easy as pie. Especially when all the necessary arrangements for that have been made in advance. When I see so many caring colleagues striving to make a difference, my faith in kindness and in mankind only gets stronger!"

Each clean-up ended with their participants enjoying drinking tea, admiring the results of their work and the now-beautified grounds. The youngest participants of the campaign were offered to take part in a trivia quiz. The children were asked to solve environment-themed puzzles, and were awarded memorable gifts for their efforts.
"Every year at the end of April, those residents of Tobolsk who are concerned about environmental pollution come out to the banks of the Irtysh to join hands and clean up the grounds there. This year we were tested by the inclement weather as it rained on both days of the cleanup. But I was very glad to see that this nuisance failed to stop my colleagues from joining the campaign. I would like to express my gratitude to all the participants, you are true heroes!"

This is the third year in a row that Tobolsk becomes the venue for environmental cleanup campaigns held within the framework of the Clean Future Is In a Clean Present project. It has already become a tradition that the event is joined by whole families - children and adults alike. This helps cultivate a proper and responsible eco-friendly culture.
