Svobodny will host a touring performance of a play from the Theater of Nations’ repertoire

10 march 2021

On March 18, 2021, the State Theater of Nations (led by its Artistic Director Evgeny Mironov, a People's Artist of Russia) will be performing its production of the play "Our Everything... Nodar Dumbadze" on the stage of Svobodny’s Sergei Lazo Cultural Center. This guest performance in Svobodny is a follow-on to the partnership between SIBUR and the State Theater of Nations established in 2015 as part of the Formula for Good Deeds social investment program’s Culture Focus Area.

The monodrama, directed and performed by actor Giorgi Iobadze, is based on the famous novel "Me, Grandma, Iliko and Illarion" by the Georgian writer Nodar Dumbadze. It tells a story of pre-war life in a Georgian village, seen through the eyes of a boy named Zuriko. He grows up parentless, sees off his fellow villagers leaving for the frontline, goes through all the hardships of the war period, goes on to study in Tbilisi, but eventually returns back home. The novel is imbued with the trademark sense of nostalgia and somewhat bittersweet humor that made Georgian cinema so popular among its aficionados.
