The Regional Public Organisation "Basketball Federation of Nizhny Novgorod Region", with grant support from SIBUR's "Formula for Good Deeds" social investment programme, has summed up the results of the large-scale project "Streetball Gorky 3x3: New Energy". A series of open 3x3 basketball tournaments, held in the format of street festivals, successfully covered four cities in the region, demonstrating a sustained demand among young people for accessible and vibrant sports formats outside traditional indoor arenas.
</p>
<p>
The main focus of activity was in Pavlovo, where the final stage of the series took place as part of the Youth Day celebrations. However, the venues in Nizhny Novgorod, Gorodets and Arzamas also welcomed hundreds of participants. Over several months, the project brought together 690 basketball teams, and the total number of athletes, spectators and event guests exceeded 3,500 people. Each tournament day was a full-fledged city celebration with musical accompaniment, interactive competitions, a children's entertainment zone and photo locations.
</p>
<p>
The implementation of the project was a response to a confirmed social need: according to data from the regional Ministry of Sport, less than a third of young people in the region's small towns regularly attend mass events, with the main barrier being a lack of events close to home. At the end of the season, feedback from participants and spectators confirmed high levels of engagement: the vast majority of respondents noted an increased interest in regular basketball training, and parents highly appreciated the opportunity to combine competitions with quality leisure time for their children.

<p>
<span style="font-weight: 600;">Ilya Khayretdinov, Chairman of the Basketball Federation of Nizhny Novgorod Region:</span><br>
<em>"For us, this season was clear confirmation that street sport is not just a competition but a powerful social tool that brings together generations and territories. We see how, thanks to SIBUR's support and the constructive work of local municipalities, 3x3 basketball is moving beyond professional arenas and becoming part of the everyday culture of local residents."</em>
</p>
<p>
<span style="font-weight: 600;">Natalia Shpenkova, coach of the Pilna Youth Centre team, project participant:</span><br>
<em>"The main outcome is competitive experience with the best regional teams, a boost of motivation for further training, positive energy, new acquaintances and positive communication. The atmosphere of a basketball celebration, drive, basketball movement and sporting excitement. I liked the clarity of the schedule, the festive atmosphere: there was a host, a professional photographer, additional activities – dancing, the GTO complex. I wish you to keep the bar high! The organisers did a great job! You are doing tremendous work at a professional level, despite all the challenges!"</em>
</p>
<p>
<span style="font-weight: 600;">Polina Luzgina, project participant:</span><br>
<em>"Streetball Gorky 3x3 is a wonderful, atmospheric event, always organised at the highest level – bright and emotional. We sign up with great pleasure and get a sea of emotions. It gives players team cohesion, skill development, quick decision-making and improves technique. We will gladly take part again."</em>
