2025 saw SIBUR demonstrate its commitment to community improvement and environmental stewardship through five volunteer projects it supported in Bashkortostan’s Blagoveshchensk. Under the umbrella of the company’s Formula for Good Deeds social investment program, local volunteers came together to carry out 15 cleanup campaigns, preventing over 4 tons of waste from polluting the local environment.

This collective effort drew more than 340 volunteers involved in implementing several local projects including Blagoveshchensk – A Clean City, A Lake Near Home – 3, Waste Hunters – 5, A Spring of Hope, and
Bloom, My Schoolyard.

A team of volunteers representing the Blagoveshchensk – A Clean City project focused on cleaning up the Belaya River ecosystem, clearing household waste from the beach and the river’s right bank. All collected waste was transferred for further recycling with support from the city’s administration. Volunteers also decorated the community landscape by installing the illuminated Fascinating Space art piece next to Kindergarten No. 2.

As part of the A Lake Near Home – 3
initiative, volunteers have improved local lakeshores by removing waste, mowing grass, clearing the lakes of debris, and cutting down dead trees and shrubs. These campaigns were joined by SIBUR’s employees, students, local residents, and retirees. In three years, the project's 10 cleanup campaigns have helped collect more than 3.6 tons of waste. According to Alfia Sapozhnikova, the project’s curator, it was her involvement in this initiative that has led to her recognition as a finalist for the Talented Woman in Modern Industry 2025 award in the Social / Volunteering Project of the Year category.

Now in its fifth year, SIBUR’s Waste Hunters project has been drawing corporate volunteers from POLIEF to engage in cleaning the city’s nature areas using the format of a friendly competition. The campaign’s 10 events held in 2025 helped clean up some 2,000 square meters of local forest land. Cumulatively, the project has mobilized over 200 volunteers in collecting 4 tons of waste, thus making a lasting impact on taking care of the local environment.

The A Spring of Hope project turned its focus to revamping public spaces. The volunteers carried out 2 large-scale and 3 local initiatives that involved installing 4 benches, planting trees and perennial flowers, and setting up bird houses in the area. They also helped build 2 art objects to create more welcoming and comfortable community areas for all residents and visitors of the city.

In a bid to build a welcoming and ecofriendly environment for the next generation, participants of the Bloom, My Schoolyard project brought together schoolchildren, teachers, Blagoveshchensk residents and SIBUR volunteers to hold six campaigns aimed at fostering environmental stewardship in children and raising their awareness of the importance of waste sorting. The initiative’s program included five eco-lessons and a contest of schoolground improvement projects, culminating in planting of 33 perennials and some 100 annual plants and the installation of 2 comfortable benches made out of repurposed boards and disposed school chairs.

These volunteering initiatives in Blagoveshchensk serve as a testament to how concerted efforts of SIBUR’s volunteers and local residents help make their city cleaner, greener and cozier. By promoting environmental awareness and advancing eco-culture, projects such as these help improve partnerships between businesses and communities serving as a telling example of how sustainable development principles can be translated into real action.
