A bird feeder contest run within the framework of the Territory of the Lapwing project kicked off simultaneously in 4 regions

9 november 2022

The contest of bird feeder photos was launched on November 9 in Svobodny and Svobodnensky District of Amur Oblast, in Dzerzhinsk and Kstovo in Nizhegorodskaya Oblast, as well as in Tomsk and Tyumen Oblasts. The contest is designed to draw the attention of the inhabitants of Russian regions to the problems faced by the birds that stay over for the winter. The photos will be accepted until November 25, 2022. The winners will receive memorable souvenirs. The contest is implemented as part of the Territory of the Lapwing project of SIBUR's social investment program The Formula for Good Deeds with assistance from the non-profit partnership Birds and People.

Every year on November 12, Russia celebrates The Day of the Great Tit, an environmental festival. It is common during this season to stock food and build feeders for the birds that stay for the winter. To participate in the contest, one needs to craft an original bird feeder, place it in a natural setting, take a photo and send it to the contest with a short description via the contest’s
application entry system. There is no limit as to the number of entries per participant.

One of our Formula for Good Deeds program's key objectives is to educate the residents of the regions where SIBUR operates and promote environmental responsibility. That is why all our environmental projects include simple but very worthwhile activities. The Territory of the Lapwing photo contest is a testament to the great care we show toward our environment and at the same time is an opportunity to express one's imagination and creativity. Over the three years that the contest has been around, we have established a good tradition of helping the birds that winter in our cities and towns with the contest’s participants having built a total of over 2,400 bird feeders, Elena Snezhko, manager and head of the Formula for Good Deeds social investment program, commented.

You can find further details about the photo contest, participation procedures and requirements for the photos on the
