Peace and Harmony contest, SIBUR’s set of projects implemented as part of its Environmental Protection focus area under the auspices of the Formula for Good Deeds social investment program was chosen as the contest’s winner in the Sustainable Business category.

The contest’s organizing committee noted the company's systemic and creative approach to addressing various environmental problems faced by the regions where it has operations and to helping instill a sense of environmental responsibility in the residents of local communities.

The Formula for Good Deeds program has been under implementation since as far back as 2016, and the topic of Environmental Protection has always been one of our top priorities. In keeping with our sustainable development strategy, we have been working on addressing such challenges as responsible plastic consumption, preservation of biodiversity, and involving both children and adults in conservation activities, Elena Snezhko, Chief Expert, Head of the Formula for Good Deeds social investment program, noted.

Over the past six years, working together with its partners and local activists, the company has been able to produce truly significant results. More than 7,000 people have suggested their own environmental initiatives spanning across nine thematic projects, with more than 2,500 people joining various volunteering campaigns. The efforts of school forestry teams and local activists have resulted in more than 85,000 seedlings being planted across the regions of SIBUR's presence.

Tyumen Oblasts has become renowned for its regular ornithological surveys conducted on an area of more than 500,000 sq.m., helping to locate habitats of 82 bird species and take steps to protect them.

Recycling workshops have sprung up in schools in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Nizhegorodskaya, Tomsk, and Tyumen Oblasts. They are used to teach students about recycling of plastics, how to use various recycled materials, and how to make useful items out recycled plastic waste on one’s own.

Fostering the development of environmental culture has always been one of the priorities of the Environmental Culture. Peace and Harmony contest. The contest has been conducted by the V.I. Vernadsky Foundation for eleven years. In 2022, the contest received 674 applications from 71 regions of the Russian Federation.
