SIBUR announced launch of the 2nd grant contest for Tyumen Oblast’s schools and school forestry districts

22 march 2021

On March 21, the International Day of Forests, the second grant contest for schools and school forestry district teams was launched. The contest is conducted by SIBUR together with Tyumen Oblast’s Forestry Department as part of the Formula for Good Deeds program’s “Tobolsk’s Forest” project.

The contest’s 2021 edition seeks to provide support for research projects focusing on forest research, conservation, protection, and reforestation. The winners will receive grants of up to RUB 50,000. Entries for the contest will be accepted until April 15, 2021.

We are happy to announce the launch of our second grant contest for Tyumen Oblast’s schools and school forestry districts. In addition to receiving funding, the winners of the contest will also find mentors representing the experts’ community of the Formula for Good Deeds. This would take research performed at schools to a whole new level. We would really like to hope that the authors of winning projects will go on to win at the regional and national contests later on, noted Elena Belskaya, Head of ZapSibNeftekhim’s Government Relations Department.

The contest is open to students of Tyumen Oblast’s secondary schools and active participants of school forestry teams (the contest’s geography does not cover Khanty-Mansiysk and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs). Application entries will be accepted both from individual participants and from teams consisting of a teacher and one or more students.

SIBUR has been supporting and helping to develop school forestry districts under the 2020 cooperation agreement between our Forestry Department and SIBUR. Thanks to last year’s grant contest, Tyumen Oblast’s schoolchildren were offered an opportunity to implement five environmental projects. For several years, the company has been actively involved in implementing various environmental programs including the ones that are related to forestry. Thanks to Tobolsk’s Forest, new plantations of forest trees have been planted. It is valuable  that the company has been increasingly paying its attention to environmental education and to fostering a culture of rational use of natural resources among the people of the younger generation, commented Leonid Ostroumov, Director of Tyumen Oblast’s Forestry Department.

We look forward to receiving your applications and would like to wish you good luck!
