As many as four cities are to host the Art Formula, a street art project

8 july 2022

For the fifth year now, Russia’s cities have been hosting a contest of sketches set to adorn the facades of their buildings. The contest is being implemented as part of a project called the Art Formula.
The Art Formula is a street art project conceived and executed by RASKRASIMVSYO, a team of professional artists. It was made possible thanks to the support of SIBUR’s charitable program, the Formula for Good Deeds.

As part of the project, the cities of Perm, Tobolsk, Kstovo, and Svobodny have been holding contests of drawings intended to be transferred to the facades of the cities’ residential buildings or other types of urban facilities. The contestants have been encouraged to draw and submit their drawings as options to choose from when decorating buildings’ facades. Contest winners will then get to transfer their sketches to buildings’ facades, guided by professional artists.

Since 2018, quite a number of vibrant art objects (known as murals) have made their way to the participating cities’ buildings’ facades. Each of these murals was based on the sketches presented by the contest’s winners.

The themes suggested for the 2022 sketch contest included: The Time of the First Ones and The Ecological Vernissage (Perm), EcoArt (Tobolsk), The Reality Formula and The Environment: Purity of the Soul (Kstovo), and Thinking in an Eco-Friendly Way (Svobodny).
Participation in the contest is open to contestants falling into two of the following age groups: 4- to 17-year-olds and 18- to 55-year-olds. The winners will receive valuable prizes.

Contest applications and sketches will be accepted through July 15, 2022. To enter, one would need to fill out a registration form, draw a sketch based on a suggested template, and email it to
formulaiskusstva@gmail.com.

The goal of Art Formula’s sketch contest is to effect change and transform urban environments by means of contemporary and street art through joint efforts of all residents and to develop enthusiastic local communities that seek fulfilment through creativity and want to beautify their native cities.
