The Iconic Place, a festival of contemporary art, will be held in Tobolsk on July 23

On July 23, Tobolsk will host a city-wide festival of contemporary art, the Iconic Place. The event’s venue is at 1 Krasnaya Ploshchad, in the city's main square. This initiative aims to help establish a creative community of the city’s residents while also promoting creativity and development of cultural traditions. The project is being implemented with the support of SIBUR and its Formula for Good Deeds social investments program. RASKRASIMVSYO, a team of professional artists, will be responsible for making the project happen.

The festival’s program includes workshops, lectures by celebrated artists and the industry’s leading craftsmen, performances put on by local artistic groups, and a festive gala concert. The event will additionally feature a series of master classes where the attendees, guided by experienced professional artists, will be able to paint art objects crafted specifically for the festival, learn the basics of penmanship and calligraphy, assemble and style a traditional Russian headdress, the kokoshnik, and learn how to customize shopping bags.

The Iconic Place festival starts at noon. Pre-registration for attending master classes is required. Registration is open at the event’s website. Other than that, participation in the festival is open to all and is free.
