From March 20 to 29, the Theatre of Nations FEST took place in Tobolsk with the support of SIBUR's "Formula for Good Deeds" social investment programme. The project, created by the Artistic Director of the Theatre of Nations, Evgeny Mironov, introduces residents of various Russian cities to contemporary theatrical practices and contributes to the development of regional theatre communities. This year, the festival's events were attended by more than 1,500 spectators.

This year's programme combined performances and director's laboratories, which help the P.P. Yershov Tobolsk Drama Theatre work with contemporary material and introduce new productions. The laboratory format involves creating a sketch of a future production in collaboration with an invited director; successful works may later be added to the theatre's repertoire. This season, Yaroslav Rakhmanin prepared a sketch based on the novella A Billion Years Before the End of the World by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky on the Small Stage, while Suzanna Klassep worked on a sketch based on Alla Sokolova's play Faryatyev's Fantasies on the Large Stage. Practice shows that these laboratories deliver tangible results.

The audience programme included two productions by the Theatre of Nations: "Sato" by Filipp Gurevich, based on the novel by Ragim Jafarov, and the musical-dramatic production "Voznesensky. Almond Blossoms" by Roman Shalyapin, dedicated to the poet Andrei Voznesensky. In addition, audiences were able to see the concert-performance "Russian Cross" based on Nikolai Melnikov's poem, featuring Evgeny Mironov.

"It is important for us that the cultural projects supported by SIBUR work towards the long-term development of the urban environment. Collaboration with the Theatre of Nations opens up not only new performances for audiences but also professional opportunities for local troupes—through laboratories and joint productions. This format yields positive results: for example, the site-specific performance 'Stages' by Dmitry Krestyankin, created following the 2023 laboratory, has been added to the repertoire of the P.P. Yershov Tobolsk Drama Theatre and was performed in the Prison Castle of the Tobolsk Kremlin. This helps shape the city's own cultural agenda and professional community," noted Elena Belskaya, Director of the Department for Interaction with Government Authorities and Implementation of Socio-Economic Projects at ZapSibNeftekhim LLC.

Over nine years, the Theatre of Nations FEST festival has become an important part of Tobolsk's cultural life and a platform for interaction between audiences and the theatre community. During this time, the city has hosted more than thirty performances, laboratories, masterclasses, public talks, creative meetings, and street performances. Over the years, the festival has featured Olga Ostroumova, Avangard Leontyev, Svetlana Nemolyayeva, Alla Sigalova, Daria Moroz, and other distinguished Russian actors.
