Late March saw a lot of motivated and caring individuals interested in seeing their home city transformed for the better descend on the grounds of the Tomsk-based facility. The program of their visit included a meeting with Tomsneftekhim’s general director, attending the awards ceremony, and taking a tour of the production facility. The winners of the Formula for Good Deeds grant contest got introduced to Tomskneftekhim's environmental conservation program, its environmental protection initiatives, and operations carried out at local treatment facilities that had been commissioned in 2022. They were also given a tour of the polypropylene production plant where they saw firsthand how technological processes are controlled via digital tools, and observed operations at the automated packaging line for finished products.

We have been funding various exciting projects within the framework of the Formula for Good Deeds for 7 years and intend to continue doing so despite the current situation in the country and around the world as we have adopted a systemic approach to supporting diverse social initiatives designed to improve people's lives. If you looked at the range of projects that we are sponsoring in 2023, you will see that many of them are events and activities related to sports. We want to make sure that more residents of our region turn to sports and healthy living, and this gives us hope and inspiration. Our other focus areas include supporting theatrical projects and programs for children suffering from severe diseases, Vladimir Pleshkov, General Director of Tomskneftekhim, noted.

Konstantin Chubenko, Deputy Mayor of Tomsk for Social Policy, was among those who took the stage during the awards ceremony: On behalf of our city’s administration and the broader city community, I would like to thank SIBUR for its commitment and dedication to the cause of corporate social responsibility. Today’s event brought a whole range of the best non-profit organizations that have really done a great deal for the development of the city community focusing on such areas as sports, environment, and helping children. Thanks to their initiatives our city is becoming a better place to live in.

Among the projects that Tomskneftekhim will support in 2023 are the Alexander Kaun Cup, a charitable 3x3 basketball tournament, the Tomsk International Marathon Race, the Terra Siberia bicycle race, the Crystal Tomsk ice sculpture festival, the Miracle Nearby, the 28th Inclusive Charitable Ordinary Miracle Marathon, and the Theater in a Pocket. A Forum Theater Laboratory by Tomsk’s Theater of Young Spectators.

Speaking about the significance of sports-related projects for the region, Alexander Gordiyevskikh, Director of Autonomous Non-Profit Organization The Heart of Siberia Running community, made the following remarks: Thanks to the support of the Formula for Good Deeds, we have a unique opportunity in our region to hold exciting large-scale athletic events that target all strata of our population, thereby helping make sports more accessible and give people an opportunity to take part in real competitions and win prizes. This is what is so special about Tomsk as this allows us to attract participants from other regions across the country with their share in the total number of attendees having already reached the level of as high as 50 per cent. Projects of that kind help advance the brand of our city, as this isn’t something that is only about sports, but also about event-based tourism.

Elena Petrova of the Alena Petrova Non-Profit Children's Charitable Foundation made this comment: Our rehabilitation center has been helping to rehabilitate children from all over Tomsk Oblast, given that this may not be always possible in some of the locales. It is important that all children battling cancer could get the care they need in one place. That way, we can help our city and shoulder its burden.

Elena Goncharova, Head of the Union of Parents of Disabled Children, Children with Health Impairments and Children Disabled from Birth shared the idea behind her project: There are quite a few children with the Down syndrome at our center. They are in need of additional psychological and pedagogical support, and we are fortunate to be able to field a team of experts who know how to work with such children. Our Solar Express project scheduled to receive grant funding from SIBUR in 2023 will give families the opportunity to offer their children a full course of learning classes in one location. That way, these children’s quality of life will be improved and they will learn to be independent. In the future, they will be able to attend kindergartens and schools with confidence and study on a par with other fellow learners.

Over the seven years that the program has been under implementation, the company has helped support 51 special projects focusing on developing culture, education, science, sports, conservation, inclusion and urban environment in Tomsk. A total of 19 volunteering projects and 92 social initiatives by local organizations have received support through grant funding.
